While located on Chapel Street, Katuk<\/a> is something of a Chapel Street oasis. It’s moody and mysterious, yet warmly inviting. It’s a bar that welcomes strangers, but attracts regulars.<\/p>\n

“We love our guests to feel comfortable,” says Katuk’s<\/a> functions and marketing manager Samantha Todd. “Whether it’s a mid-week Tinder date, or regulars popping in after work, we make everyone feel welcome. We want everyone to have an enjoyable experience.”<\/p>\nAs soon as you enter, regardless of whether is a chilled Wednesday evening, or boisterous Friday night, you immediately feel that sense of welcoming and cosy hygge. <\/i>It’s all dark polished wood, mood lighting, and rich spirits.

\nTowards the back, is a cubby house-style hole in the wall, complete with a nest of pillows. It’s the perfect place to laze back and sip on a glass of Chartreuse…or build a pillow fort.\n

At the front, is a sunken lounge, with leather couches, books, and an open fire. It looks like the library out of Cluedo. You half expect Professor Plum and Colonel Mustard to be standing at the fireplace, speculating about the untimely demise of Dr Black, while swirling a tumbler of whisky. Most likely Glenmorangie scotch whisky, as Katuk<\/a> also happens to home to Australia’s largest collection of Glenmorangie scotch whisky, and Chartreuse. <\/p>\n

“We have the biggest collections of Glenmorangie outside of the distillery in Scotland,” says owner Simon Pratt.<\/p>\n

\"Katuk\"<\/a><\/p>\n

“It’s one of the most premium whisky brand in the world,” says Simon. <\/p>\n

And premium whiskies deserve a premium display. An ornate glass cabinet, complete with spot lighting is where the Glenmorangie lives. Regulars can even pull out the big bucks and splurge on their own bottle of Glenmorangie, and keep it in a personal whisky locker.<\/p>\n

And if you’re not a whisky connoisseur, the staff at Katuk<\/a> are always keen to help guests find out what they want to drink…even if they don’t know it themselves.<\/p>\n

“Our staff are well versed in matching spirits and drinks to people’s taste,” says Simon. “We love helping customers try and discover new things.<\/p>\n

“It’s about giving an experience,” says Simon. “And that’s something that we try to build on: giving the customer just a really enjoyable experience.” <\/p>\n
