My partner and I visited for a long weekend- initially we were very impressed with an early check-in and beautifully appointed room with lovely river view (we booked a River View King Suite). We established in the afternoon of our first night that the apartment’s lighting was faulty, switching off all the lighting in the apartment every 30mins or so. The only way the lighting could be reactivated was for the front door to be opened which in turn activated the motion sensors which very quickly became a nuisance. I notified reception, who were lovely and sent a maintenance chap to the room. He advised that it was a sensor issue that would require a specialist technician to fix. He was unable to advise when a technician would be able to visit, but that it may not be until Monday (it was Friday at this time). I guess the expectation was that having no lighting would be satisfactory to us. This left us feeling like we were camping- using the torches on our mobile phones for lighting when we needed to use the bathroom overnight, or opening the front door which in turn then turned on ALL the lights in the apartment. I spoke with reception again in the morning advising that I did not feel this was satisfactory, given that we had paid $900 for a 2 night stay. At my request, we were then moved to a different room, which despite being classed as another River View King Suite could be described as a river ‘glimpse’ at best. The balcony looked out over the brick wall of the neighbouring building and the river could only be seen if standing in the opposite corner of the room looking backwards (not a position you would be in during normal movement throughout the apartment). In addition, room service had not been advised that we had checked into this replacement room and then came in to check the mini bar usage of the previous guests. I discussed my concerns regarding the lack of river view to the housekeeping attendant who advised the room we had been provided was not a designated river view apartment. At this time, I provided feedback via the hotel’s website expressing my dissatisfaction, however never received a response. When I contacted the hotel today to discuss, the reservation manager spoke over me, more fixated on what she had or hadn’t told me at the time of my booking than my disappointment at the entire lack of acknowledgment of any of my concerns. Definitely will not be back.

We had a delightful one-night stay. Upon our arrival at midday, we were pleased to find that the room was prepared ahead of schedule. The adherence to meticulous cleaning standards was particularly commendable. The entire staff exhibited a high level of friendliness, and their willingness to assist was evident. The location is conveniently situated near major attractions, yet we experienced minimal disturbances from noise during our rest. We look forward to returning for another stay and express our gratitude.

I am deeply disappointed with the room service experience I had. It took over 45 minutes to prepare two basic meals, despite numerous phone calls to check on the status. The food arrived cold, and it was evident that both the steak and fish were frozen. The only redeeming factor was the decent chips. For a bill exceeding $100, this experience was not only overpriced but also a waste of time. While I understand that establishments can get busy, transparency about potential delays would have been appreciated. #*#*#*#*#*# UPDATE REPLY FROM MANAGEMENT 2/3/24 Despite being understanding of operational challenges, I was left uninformed of a 45-minute delay until after my third phone inquiry. It was only then that an employee named Maddy nonchalantly acknowledged the kitchen's busyness as if delays were an acceptable norm. This lack of communication and the casual response to my concern were unacceptable. My expectation as a customer is simple: transparency and respect. Had I been informed of the delay at the time of ordering, my frustration could have been mitigated. Furthermore, the hotel's response to my feedback as you can see is underwhelming, to say the least. Offering a refund as a gesture of goodwill might have prompted me to consider using their hotel chain again. However, the lack of such an offer only highlights the poor management and customer service ethic at play. This incident has certainly revealed the true quality of service provided by the hotel, convincing me to look elsewhere in the future. Hotel lookers BEWARE!

Had a great stay (3 nights) at Rydges South Bank for a conference this week. The hotel is well located and the staff are friendly and professional. The room was outstanding. A large comfy bed with good quality linen and pillows. The room was large with a comfy chair as well as a desk area and lots of power and charging points. The bathroom was compact but well laid out and the shower was great. Lots of consistently hot water, great water pressure and flow and a very roomy shower stall. Overall I'd say it was the nicest and most comfortable room I've stayed in for ages. Definitely recommend and I'd stay again. Can't comment on the room price as it was covered by the conference organisers.

Have recently spent 4 nights at Rydges , and the room was extraordinary well laid out and extremely clean. However it was service for the whole stay that was non-existent and let me down. 1 night I ring reception 4 times over a 2 hr period to try and get an issue fixed, spoke to staff twice & got hung up on twice - NO staff came to help. Next day I lodged a face to face complaint at reception, not once was I asked what my actual problem was and saw no one. Hotel Room - great Food - Fantastic but seriously overpriced Service - non existent and very disappointing
