Decent beer selection, nice interiors and friendly service. Lots of screens, so it's got the look of a traditional Fitzroy pub but can often feel like a sports bar. Great for a low-key spot to watch a game without the epic atmosphere and crowds of the Great Northern, but a bit more of a game-day buzz than The Lincoln.

We had lunch today at The Rose, it was a beautiful experience. The owner was very personable the service was fantastic. We all enjoyed our meals and very reasonable prices. The lunch menu was $20 for all dishes. I had a rump steak and salad it was cooked to perfection rare to medium, the other parties had beer battered fish chips and salad. Would recommend to everyone to go and have lunch. We will certainly go back next time we are back in town.

I'm only giving the Rose three stars for the beautiful classic venue and the good beer selection. The food was unbelievably average. I got the beef burger and my friend got the $39 steak. My burger was so dry, overcooked and tasteless. His steak was extremely chewy and the 'jus' was just an extremely salty gravy. Surely you'd expect better for almost $40 ?! How can you get pub staples so wrong ? I would return for a drink, but I'd get a better burger from Maccas on the way home.

I haven't been here for a while so it was great to be back. The service was really friendly and welcoming. Strict protocols were adhered to. I enjoyed a couple of stouts, my partner had a beer and a Patient Wolf Gin and Tonic. We had a great time and I look forward to going back.

I had a 40th in the function space upstairs. I’m always a bit wary of canapés, but the canapés there were really tasty, there was enough food for everyone, and they did a little separate plate for my vegan friend. The staff were easy going and flexible. The space itself is really pretty and there’s an outside deck. Thanks a lot!
