I had a pleasant stay at Mantra MacArthur. The staff were kind and the hotel had a good location, close to tram. The kitchen also served really delicious coffee. Check in and check out was too easy. Car park was accessible. Overall I enjoyed my stay.
The location is good. The reception staff are professional and pleasant to deal with. The bathroom in the room we stayed in wasn't cleaned properly. My little girl found a tablet of some description on the floor. The bed was very comfortable. The buffet breakfast was OK.
I stay 1 night and paid full amount of money , The reception lady asked me my bank card for security reason after 5 minutes she took again 200 $ for bond .I kindly request her why you take my money ? I paid already full amount of money room charge no need to take extra she told me we will back after 28 days , at that time I am totally disappointed because last year they didn't back my money I don't have time to call every single day .room is expensive but facilities is very less no sandal in the room just 2 small peace of milk.i have just only one word you guys are scammer!! Barely 3 stars with your eyes closed. $159 per night; it's not a double or queen bed, but two kids singles pushed together, not even the sheets fit it. Very uncomfortable, only one pillow per person per side of the bed. They charged $100 upfront for 'mini bar' which is a kettle and old tea bags. Air con just didn't work, did not turn on at all. Also no openable windows, no air con, stagnant air all night, roasting hot. They left a pile bar heater in the room with a broken switch, it's on full or nothing so obviously had to leave it off. I asked for a room for one person, and got a double door to next room, I did not ask this, felt pretty unsafe and uncomfortable. Car par is $15 in an underground below another building, you have to validate at the hotel so lots of back and forth in lifts and walking back and forth down the street. No food at all, no where near any food so you have to drive everywhere. No wifi at all, anywhere. Hotel walls are dirty, furniture is cheap laminate, no facilities to speak of. Even hostels have wifi, in fact this was much like staying at cheap hostel. Will never stay at a Mantra hotel ever again.
If it wasn't for the reception staff, I would be giving a lower score. I requested to be moved rooms as the room I was given had dust everywhere, surfaces, carpet around edges, and hair on the bedhead. The second room I was moved to was just as bad. Both bathrooms were not sufficiently clean and behind the sink had grime and hair. I was finally moved to a bigger room. However, this was the same. Dust, bathroom not cleaned properly, Kettle had grime and hand prints on it. After the 3rd attempt, I requested a refund and left. It was not great given it was around 9 pm when I arrived and was exhausted from travel. If the hotel improves (a lot) in the cleanliness, it could be a good hotel, good staff, good location but horrible cleaning.
