The Stag (formerly The Stag Inn (est. 1849) and The Stag Hotel (1902)) is rich in history, not only is it an iconic SA venue but it’s a place of culture. The upstairs function areas boast the best parkland views in Adelaide, as well as that of busy and boutique Rundle Street. We proudly celebrate local produce and actively look to reduce the distance from paddock to plate. This is something we love to share with everyone who comes in. We support South Australian businesses so they support us. We are fiercely local. We use nothing but quality ingredients for our menu items, we aim to make everything in the house and select only the best local wines, beers and spirits to be a part of our drink offering. Great pub and usually amazing food. Today however the steak was pretty ordinary. For $40 you would expect a nice little salad to go with it, rather than a few green lettuce leaves. The steak itself was luke warm and pretty fatty. Hubby really enjoyed his Greek Salad. We will return but might try a schnitzel next time.

Nice atmosphere, for an evening out. Update 14/2/2023: Popped in for a beer and chips, on the way home from town. I must say that these were some of the best I've had in some time. Salted with a Cajun flavour. I would say that there was insufficient sauce for the number of chips, and would like the option of mayonnaise.

A group of 6 of us Had dinner on the balcony on friday. Lovely location. We ordered 3 Fish n chips. 2 pulled pork burgers and One chicken salad. Every single item except the burgers were smothered in salt. So much salt on the chips you could not eat them unless you scraped the salt of every chip. As you can see in the photos . The fish was also covered in salt. It ruined the food. We complained to a waitress. She said. I'll tell the chef and never came back. Not happy as a lot of food wasted.

Visited on a Friday afternoon as a group with a booking. Shop was surprisingly empty when we first arrived at 12pm, but started to fill up at about 1.30pm. There was also a live performance which was pretty nice and added to the atmosphere. Wait at the bar wasn’t too long and service was great. Food: 9/10 - only cause portion could have been slightly bigger for the price Price: 8/10 Atmosphere: 10/10 Service: 10/10
