A Foodie’s Dream: Doltone House Venue Showcase

After the roaring success of VenueNow’s Melbourne Aquarium showcase, the brains behind our regular venue showcases understandably felt the pressure to up the ante, and pull off an equally as memorable and breathtaking experience. Spoiler alert: they did, and it was a feast for the senses. Set the bar high, much?

On a balmy Thursday night in Sydney, a few of Venuemob’s corporate clients were led down Jones Bay Wharf, their path lit by white lanterns on a black carpet as the sun set. The destination was Doltone House Jones Bay Wharf, a collection of spectacular function venues – with a particular knack for hosting breathtaking corporate events.

After enjoying pre-event prosecco and rosé under the sky, as well as entertainment by way of a couple of mimes, guests headed to the Doltone Loft space to kick off the night properly.

How? A wine and cheese tasting, of course.

A guest speaker – the amiable and cheery Vern – was in attendance to introduce each wine (and that wine’s story) and pairing. Tasting notes accompanied each station and each sumptuous cheese. It was a delightful reminder that team building activities aren’t just trust falls and charades; rather, they can be gastronomic experiences to delight even the most discerning foodie.

Entertainment was provided by DJ Toby, who managed to not only play violin and the saxophone, but also man the decks. That, combined with the readily-flowing (and delicious) wine, meant the night kicked off in fine form.

The Heritage Wharf was the next stop, pausing in the ‘Mid Pier’ space for Doltone Director of Sales John Grealy to say a few words. You’d be forgiven for being distracted by House of Doltone’s luxurious styling on full display, but luckily, Grealy had some exciting news to share – that of Doltone House’s new venue, Australian Technology Park.

After that piece of chatter-inducing news (if you haven’t heard of Australian Technology Park, you will soon!), it was off to Doltone House Jones Bay Wharf’s newest space, Soho. Ideal for boardroom dinners, smaller conferencing events and unique corporate events, this one was a particular highlight.

It was around this point that the night’s real star emerged: a whole suckling pig, slow-cooked for four hours. We’re not kidding about it being the star; the amount of phones that flew into the air and the amount of selfies taken would make you believe a real life human celebrity was present!

After a brief rundown of the cooking techniques behind our porcine friend’s journey to the plate, it was time for dinner within the romantically lit Soho space, complete with a view out to the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Staff were attentive and plentiful, the food was mouth-watering, and the drinks just kept on coming (we were sampling Doltone’s Premium beverage package, after all). Verdict on the vibe: excellent.

And just when we thought there was no way we’d be able to fit any more amazing gastronomic action into our bellies, it was time to leave the beautifully styled dining room to head to Signorelli Gastronomia.

There, guests were greeted with a chef giving a live pizza-making demonstration. A Nutella dessert pizza-making demonstration, that is. In fact, the entire dessert portion of the night had a distinctly Nutella-themed bent to it. And by that we mean there was a LOT of Nutella around. And by that, we mean Nutella crepes, Nutella donuts, Nutella pizzas, Nutella éclairs, served with strawberries, bananas and whipped cream.

And by THAT, we mean that it was pretty difficult to leave, if we do say so ourselves. Hitting the old dusty trail though, wasn’t devoid of reward – each guest received a bottle of wine from the Doltone collection and goodie bag as the event concluded.

It’s Venuemob’s belief that if you’re going to show corporate clients and event planners a space, it might as well be worth writing home about – an experience to blow socks off, to leave an impression. After all, that’s what we all want from the events we organise, right?

The Venuemob team would like to thank the entire Doltone House team, especially House of Doltone for styling the spaces so wonderfully (those Venuemob balloons were great!), and to John Grealy. We’ll be hitting the gym a few times this week, that’s for sure.

The myriad spaces and beautiful function venues of Doltone House Jones Bay Wharf, as well as Signorelli Gastronomia are available to book via Venuemob.
