Owned by the Hachem family, Kaikey’s Lane is the second addition to the family’s growing venue collection in Melbourne. The Hachems also run Eliana Lulu (previously Lorca), down the street in Centre Place.

“We are so family-orientated and such a close family. We have always wanted to work together and build an empire together,” says Anthony Hachem.

This sense of family is captured in the venue itself. Sitting pretty on Block Place, Kaikey’s Lane is a friendly, classic laneway fixture. European-style seating out the front is perfect for a spot of afternoon tea, and indoors is a strong choice for after-work drinks and dinner.

Kaikey’s Lane exudes a certain air of simplicity, mixing traditional restaurant decor with striking, colourful images of the city. For events, enter the side room – a sophisticated space with black leather surround seating and a beautiful feature wall showcasing Melbourne’s iconic Flinders Street Station.

As for future empire expansion, the Hachems have a fair bit on their plate already with Kaikey’s Lane and Eliana Lulu.

“I think we are going to lay low for a while and then decide what we want to do next. But I do feel as if a reception centre or a restaurant on a larger scale is definitely on the horizon in the coming years,” says Mr Hachem.
