Kristy Wise is one of the driving forces behind VenueNow’s growth, bringing industry know-how, passion, and a sharp eye for opportunity to her role as Business Development Manager. Based in Sydney, Kristy’s journey into events began early, sparked by a genuine interest that started in high school and led her to pursue a Diploma in Event Management.

Following her studies, Kristy landed her first role in the conference sector, organising events for a pharmaceutical company. While it gave her a solid foundation, she quickly realised it wasn’t quite the fast-paced, creative world of events she had imagined. That all changed when she moved on to work alongside a celebrity chef, organising events for a brand-new venue.

“This is where my passion for events and fine dining was ignited,” Kristy says.

That defining moment has shaped how Kristy approaches events today, with a balance of strategic insight and a deep appreciation for unique experiences, venues, and hospitality. It is this unique blend of qualities and strengths that has made her such a valuable asset to the VenueNow team and a vital part of helping partners succeed.

What do you enjoy most about working in events?

No event is the same. I love seeing an event come to life from concept to completion. Our industry is also shaped by so many incredibly talented people from suppliers, to venues, to production/event management agencies - I wouldn't love events nearly as much if not for the amazing industry we work within.

What’s your favourite event you’ve attended and why?

The first event that springs to mind was an event I organised for a travel company - they built a vert ramp (half-pipe) in the venue and had these professional skateboarders riding on it. It was incredible! An event I'll never forget.

What makes a great event in your opinion?

The overall experience, including the execution, the service, the food & beverage and entertainment or speakers.

What’s one event trend you’re loving right now?

Sustainable event practices - something I am passionate about, and as industry leaders, we need to be at the forefront of sustainability with our venues.

What’s your number one event planning tip and advice that you would give to someone just starting out in the events industry?

Never assume anything!

Do you have an event “hack” you swear by?

Always have a contingency plan.

What’s one thing people might not know about working in events?

It can be extremely full-on at times, but also incredibly rewarding.

Music & concerts! Although I don't get to concerts nearly as often as I used to. I also love spending time with my family, going to the gym, doing yoga and eating out when I get the chance.
