ibis Melbourne Hotel & Apartments: Creative freedom, unique events

Not being restricted by the the constraints of a luxury brand comes with a few perks, including the freedom to do whatever’s needed to fulfil an event brief. ibis Melbourne & Apartments – along with its team – revels in this freedom.

Melbourne’s filled with hotels. This much we all know. It takes a lot to stand out, and even more to cement one’s reputation as an A+ conference and events venue.

Sahil Deep, the hotel’s Operations Manager, has worked all over the country at luxury hotels – yet names ibis Melbourne & Apartments as his favourite spot so far. It’s certainly a big call, with previous roles including spots at Hotel Lindrum, Pullman & Mercure Albert Park, and even in the sprawling beauty of Heron Island, Lizard Island and Uluru (Sails in the Desert).

The reason? ibis Melbourne Hotel & Apartments is a vastly different offering “It’s a different product. It’s not a luxury brand, but it’s an exceptional product.” says Sahil. And precisely because there is no strict brand standard for events, the team at ibis Melbourne Hotel & Apartments has the freedom to be creative with the scope and style of its conferences and events.

“We’re constantly challenging ourselves to be different and to be ahead of the pack. We love it when a client comes to us with a new idea or asks for inspiration.”

Not wanting to be bound by the ‘four white walls’ of a traditional meeting room, ibis Melbourne Hotel & Apartments is filled with stylish modern furniture, wooden panels, along with street art depicting iconic Melbourne scenes.

“We wanted to do something a little different from our competitors, and to bring a bit of Melbourne and its culture inside.”

The first priority for Sahil’s “adaptable, energetic and fun-filled team” is to ensure every brief is delivered above and beyond expectations. The team loves a challenge, whether it’s a spectacular Indian wedding (housing the group for a week!), a graduation ceremony, or a day of unique team building.

In fact, the hotel’s location means that corporate events and conferences can make the most of nearby rock climbing, coffee brewing and roasting courses at Market Lane, or a ‘Ultimate Foodie Tour’ at the Queen Victoria Market. ibis Melbourne has even been known to organise ‘Silent Disco’ walking tours, complete with spontaneous dancing around local landmarks.

That wealth of experience putting together unique corporate events means ibis Melbourne Hotel & Apartments has carved out a particular flair for conferences and educational events. As such, the team has a couple of VenueNow-exclusive offers up their sleeve:

All delegates can enjoy complimentary barista-made coffee at morning or afternoon tea, OR celebrate a successful conference with a complimentary post-conference drink for all delegates.

Available for meetings held until 22 December 2017. Meeting must be booked by 31 October 2017.
