Decadent desserts, light-as-a-feather finger sandwiches, puffy scones, and some surprises in between. The monthly Harbour High Tea at Woolshed is a new (and serious) contender in the competitive Melbourne afternoon tea market.
The Victoria Harbour View Room is a perfect setting for an afternoon of sweet, sweet indulgence. The harbour sparkling in the background, guests are treated to a glass of sparkling or cocktail on arrival.
And from there, the treats just keep on coming.
Each table is carefully and beautifully set. Exquisite fine china tea sets and crockery adorn the table, complementing the romantic floral table setting. And the crowning jewel? The three-tier stand, filled with savoury treats, like goats cheese and beetroot tartlets, traditional finger sandwiches and French crepes with cured ocean trout. Fluffy triangle scones with all the lashings tick the traditional high tea box.
But the main event, the pièce de résistance, is the dessert table. Tempting and almost taunting guests upon arrival, the table is stacked high with sweet treats. Some classic offerings are there – carrot cake, cheesecake – with some modern twists thrown in for good measure. The chocolate chai tart and croquembouche are absolute knockouts. Warning, the desserts are almost too beautiful to destroy...almost. Don't worry, you'll find the courage.
The Harbour High Tea is available for small or large groups, on the last Sunday of the month.
