As an ex-bank manager currently working in financial services as a Learning & Development Facilitator across the nation with one of the world's leading financial institutions, Stuart has a deep personal interest in coworking & collaborative communities, small business, social enterprise and innovation, 1st world micro-finance, P2P lending & lending circles, crowdfunding, and impact investing. While Vinh is the Managing Director of Quantum Compass Pty Ltd. Vinh is also a Director of City West Financial Services Limited (Bendigo Bank Pyrmont, NSW).

By solving artists’ complex space needs, Vinh and Stuart have allowed these creative businesspeople to excel and boost their productivity, and meet like-minded people, changing the game in such a solitary industry.

What do you do for work?

We're the founders of ArtSHINE industries. ArtSHINE is Australia’s independent Creative Industries Enterprise Acceleration Platform + Launch Pad identifying, advancing, and funding commercially minded and innovative Creative Industries Professionals. ArtSHINE is a specialist mentoring and business coaching program developed by the Quantum Compass partnership for artists, artisans, designers, crafters and all professionals working in the creative & arts industries.

Do you work out of your spare workspace?

Yes. ArtSHINE is open seven days a week. And one of us is generally here. We teach, visit clients, and consult, so it's always best to make an appointment when you want to chat. We're also extremely grateful to our team; Craig is our Centre Manager and looks after the day to day operations at CoSydney CoWorking + Project Space, ArtSHINE's coworking enterprise. Mickie is our National Strategic Partnerships Manager who works to spread the ArtSHINE love with internal and external stakeholders and to identify partnership opportunities and approach prospective partners.

What is your favourite feature of your space?

IMHO you can't have creativity without great coffee! Hence the coffee house and the specially selected blend of locally roasted coffee we serve. Located in the Chippendale Creative Precinct of the City of Sydney, ArtSHINE industries incorporates CoSydney CoWorking + Project Space, the ArtSHINE Gallery + Retail Showcase, ArtSHINE Agency and Licensing, GameSHINE, Quantum Compass Coaching + Business Advisory, and the ArtSHINE Coffee House. So being in such a diverse space means there's always something going on, or some new art on the walls, or someone new to share ideas with. It's quite inspiring.

Tell us about the most unique place you've ever worked.

Well, we're quite biased. 🙂 But for us it's ArtSHINE. The building, with its natural light and aspect, is a wonderful place to focus and to work. Stuart has a magazine clipping about a Scandinavian workspace from 25 years ago, He's worked and been involved in 'incubators' and Business Enterprise Centres in this time too. ArtSHINE really is a culmination and combination of everything Vinh and Stuart love and have worked towards. Gallery and Creative Industries Enterprise Accelerator + Launch Pad.

What type of guests have you had in your space?

ArtSHINE is a curated community of commercially minded and innovative Creative Industries Professionals. Generally founders, entrepreneurs, practitioners, and owners. Our members tend to focus on art, craft, artisanal making, design, fashion, entertainment, photography, music, writing, film & television, digital technology, and games & interactive content.

How much time commitment is involved in being a host on VenueNow?

We're open seven days. So it's a full-time commitment for us both.

What has been your most memorable experience as a co-working manager?

We're proud to be the founders of a space designed to empower Creative Industries Professionals, Entrepreneurs, and practitioners. At ArtSHINE we're building a supportive community who values collaboration, enterprise, cooperation, and autonomy. A collaborative like ours is an ideal launch pad for innovation and creating connections. We're especially proud of the clients and members who have gone on to achieve their goals as a result of working with us and being a member of the ArtSHINE community.

What are your top productivity hacks?

We use our own OPIC (Objective. Planning. Implementation. Commitment.) system to set, measure, and focus on our goals. OPIC ensures we keep up to speed with the day-to-day tasks that keep us on track. It's the same system we use with our members and clients.
