Mentorloop x VenueNow: creative solutions for an inclusive workplace

Sitting in the RACV City Club Wine Cellar dining room, the talk was engaged and excited. Despite being gloomy outside, the mood at the most recent VenueNow X Mentorloop luncheon was bubbly and positive. The stunning setting and delicious food arriving at the table set the mood, but the conversation at hand was inducing this real sense of excitement. Because if there’s one thing that HR and corporate team leaders love - it’s innovative solutions.

Mentoring, and the promotion of social interaction and internal networking through events are key to creating an inclusive workplace. However, the management of both these elements often falls on the one department – creating a serious labour drain.

The organisers and team heads seated in the refined RACV wine cellar had discovered firsthand that implementing successful programs to promote inclusion and diversity in the workplace is often easier said than done.

Two companies recognised these gaps and created a solution.

Mentorloop – creating an online platform to connect mentors with mentees, track progress and prompt engagement. Basically, creating a reliable structure for corporate mentorship programs to maximise their potential and prevent wasted opportunities.

Partnering up in 2017, Mentorloop engaged the services of VenueNow to utilise their strong industry connections, sourcing unique and beautiful venues for their pitch luncheons.

“I became aware of Mentorloop at the MAP (Melbourne Accelerator Program) launch,” explains VenueNow’s Head of Corporate Business Development, Victoria Damiani. “After meeting one of Mentorloop’s backers, he introduced us to (Mentorloop co-founder and COO) Heidi Holmes, because we thought we’d be able to collaborate and reach the same group of people.”

By launching these meet and greet luncheons, Mentorloop are able to show guests the mentorship solutions their platform provides. Guests are already aware of the numerous benefits of successful mentorship programs: an increase in employee engagement and fulfillment, an increase in diversity and inclusion and an increase in staff retention. What they didn’t know, however, was how easily the platform could be integrated into their current processes.

“It’s all about making mentoring accessible to everyone, creating that mentor culture,” says Heidi. “ By removing the bulky administration, Mentorloop provides structure, allowing mentors and mentees to get the most out of the service.”

And by hosting a seamless event in a beautiful setting, VenueNow are able to demonstrate what they do best  – creating memorable events with their huge network of stunning venue partners.
