Very beautiful hotel with a luxurious feel and is located near the Parliament houses, art galleries, museums etc. It was so convenient to travel back and forth from those places. Brassey hotel is just so stunning, the gardens are so well kept. All the receptionist and staff are lovely. The rooms are spacious and clean. Hotel guests get free parking too which is so great! Will definitely be coming back.
Pros - free coffee machine coffee is excellent and the no room service credit got me some free banana bread too - nice outdoors area, plenty of balcony and seating around hotel to enjoy - room is bigger and better furnished than in the photos although I think that maybe each room is a bit different. My one had a bonus side room - ample parking - room insulation is great and also air con - bed, bathroom is clean enough and comfortable enough. - one receptionist, a man from Nepal i think his name was bindaya or something, was exceptionally nice and friendly. The others kept changing and were ok - so close to attractions Cons - stairs may bother some people but I expected it - housekeeping missed cleaning the inside of the sink - the style is a bit old which i found quaint but in the bathroom, some black marks on the bathtub (i think are left from age) which maybe means the bathtub should be replaced. Still worked fine though and it was clean... - I couldn't find the fountain as per the photos maybe it was at the spa
Bed comfortable. +1 Room dated but that's the "haunted house" aesthetic I got. I was on the 2nd floor and had a suitcase and 2 other bags... the 2 flights of stairs was an interesting struggle -1 star. Gym junkies should always go here. Have never seen a gym with a rack and decent amount of weights! +2 On site parking was free +1 Location was perfect. Close to some beautiful restaurants, the Kingston foreshore and Manuka. +1 Would stay again. But please STOP with the texts and email spam. Let me book and be done with it.
Very comfortable bed but that’s where it starts and ends. Extremely old and tired bathroom. Ancient TV with no streaming, a remote with no battery door and when the tv is off it shoots a beam of light into the room. A loud AC and ugly 90s Country Comfort style furniture. Windows open but they’re also old and rattle in the wind. Terrible shower. No body wash in the bottle. Housekeeping clearly not checking. Hair on my towel too.
This is a pleasant hotel but it's not going to take your breath away. I had a nicely presented spacious first floor room, but it was old fashioned and the bathroom was past its best. I was surprised to find it still had a bath. A delight for some, but I prefer not to clamber to use an in-bath shower. Also, Australian TV shows are mediocre at best. Given that we all like to stream, the hotel needs to up its game and provide TV that allow guests to cast. It's a shame there's no lift. If I'm wrong and there is, I unreservedly apologise, but in my defence I wasn't told about it. Nor was the single lady I met who was grateful for my assistance with her heavy suitcase. The biggest bugbear is that the hotel is in a "hotel only" zone that stops them from operating a restaurant. This means grabbing a meal isn't that easy. The reception staff told me restaurants were just a short stroll away. I'd describe it as a hike. So, if you like a bit of exercise to build up an appetite, this is the place for you. On balance, okay, but I'd say to the owners, there's no room for complacence. Others provide a better service for less money.
