We've only moved to Hawthorn for a few months, but we almost always hit up the Auburn Hotel on Mondays and Thursdays - it's practically become a weekly routine for us. What's been disappointing lately is that roasted chicken has been removed from the menu on Mondays, which is a bit of a bummer for us since we don't always feel like eating some deep fried food. But even so, we still love it here - the food is amazing and the portions are huge. The price isn't cheap, but the atmosphere is great, and the events on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays are really worth it.
The highlight of what is a dispiriting high street. The building is gorgeous and even if it is part of the The pass ecosystem with its macro brews this place has been well preserved. Nice vibe on a Saturday, it was cold so stayed close the fire in the parlour section but the beer garden looked a huge thing of wonder. I didn't try any food so won't rate that, the prices looked pretty bougie though but this is Hawthorn so I can accept that There's lots of layers and sub areas here. I feel like I only scratched the surface.
I went to @theauburnhotel to meet some friends for lunch last weekend. It's a really nice place with beautiful interiors. The food was also good but the menu is definitely on the pricier side overall. Wagyu burger with fries: it was a really nice burger to be honest! The Wagyu beef patty was nicely done. The brioche bun was soft and not too sweet. The fries were crispy. - But, 30$ for a fairly simple burger with fries is definitely a bit expensive. I guess in this economy, you do see this more often now. Plus 18$ for a glass of wine - the lunch all of a sudden becomes 50$ (with card surcharge).
Beautiful pub. It’s very spacious with lots of different areas to accommodate your needs. The food is reasonably priced and delicious. Staff are also super friendly.
We came here to try the steak night and it was definitely worth it. We sat in the undercover outdoor area where there was a live guitar player & singer with a mega sized TV playing the footy. Definitely recommend for big groups that love watching the footy together as they have a very spacious outdoor seating
