Thanks to Jess for her tireless help in organising our daughter's engagement party in the upstairs function room on Saturday night. It was a fun night and so many of our guests contacted us afterwards to compliment us on what a fantastic venue it was and how well the night went. Your bar & service staff were amazing & couldn't do enough for us. The food was great too!

We just had my sons 30th upstairs in the function room tonight. Everybody has had a great night thanks to how wonderful the 2 staff members were. Thankyou so much to them both. Their service made it a great night.

We held a reception upstairs and it exceeded our expectations! Bar staff were wonderful and the food was delicious. Jess was great at assisting us throughout the whole process and we would definitely recommend an event held here!

Before now I have only ever used Google reviews to leave positive comments. Balgownie Hotel has stirred something in me that before tonight lay dormant. I am leaving a bad review. You may be asking “what could have possibly rattled this man so much that he has had to change his personal Google review policy?”. I’ll begin with the first problem: The wait. At a pub, I have never expected to wait longer than 20 minutes for my food. Balgownie Hotel had me wait 53 minutes. I never in my life thought I’d have to endure such hardship. The worst part of it was having to see patrons who had ordered after us, belonging to large groups, receive their food before us. The envy I had felt is indescribable. Onto the second problem: The food. I’m not even going to bother going into detail with this issue, as I’m sure you’re wise enough to piece it together, and frankly I have lost enough of my time to Balgownie already. As a final note, I feel it is necessary to make it clear that I do not cast sole blame upon the waiting service nor the kitchen staff. I am certain that both the wait and the food were the way they were due to illogical constraints put upon the staff and the quality of the produce which the kitchen has been provided. This is no doubt the responsibility of senseless management. Thank you for your patience and I hope you find this review helpful and maybe even constructive if you happen to be a Balgownie staff member.

Worse designed pub ever...restaurant is on the band area, have to scream to talk, the tab right on the corner can't move at times and food is ordinary and Way over priced other than that not a bad place!!!
