I had a fantastic experience here, a place that brings together bold Thai flavours, a lively atmosphere, and one of the best riverside dining spots in Melbourne. The food was outstanding, fresh, vibrant, and full of authentic Thai character. Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared, and the quality definitely matched the price. It’s the kind of menu where you can taste the balance of spice, sweetness, and freshness in every bite. The ambience is energetic and colourful, with that signature BangPop personality. Whether you’re indoors enjoying the bright décor or outside soaking up the view, the place has a fun, upbeat vibe that makes the whole experience memorable. The outdoor seating overlooking the Yarra River is a highlight. It’s relaxing, scenic, and perfect for a long lunch, a casual dinner, or even just drinks with friends. The staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, which added to the overall comfort. Accessibility is another plus, easy to reach, plenty of nearby parking, and right in the heart of South Wharf, making it convenient for both locals and visitors. One thing to keep in mind: BangPop is popular. During peak hours, it can get fully booked, and you might wait around 15 minutes or more for a table. But honestly, the food and atmosphere make the wait worthwhile. Overall, BangPop delivers a vibrant dining experience with great food, friendly service, and unbeatable riverside ambience. A wonderful spot to revisit and recommend.

Wow this restaurant is amazing, the location, service, atmosphere and food 5 star worthy. Big shout out to our waitress Zoe, was so attentive, friendly and helpful. Our meals were 10/10, so yummy & full of flavour. Will definitely be coming back. The whole barramundi dish was a standout & dessert was lovely too.

Had lunch here on my hubby's birthday. Good food, grest ambience and fantastic location, just next to Yaara river. Fish cake and chicken ribs were great entree. Mains were good too but was looking a bit more in taste. Overall, it was great.

I’ve been here quite a few times, and while the vibe is genuinely great and the service has always been good, the food has really let it down for me. The last few visits, the dishes felt quite bland and lacked the depth of flavour you’d expect. It’s disappointing because the place has so much going for it in terms of atmosphere and overall experience. Unfortunately, it hasn’t lived up to expectations when it comes to the food, and after multiple tries, I don’t think I’ll be returning.

We were attended by a gentleman called James. Excellent service he provided; Warm, lively and courteous. The view and ambiance was beautiful. The food was delicious too but felt the Thai green curry could have more chicken in it. Nonetheless, I will still return to BangPop for Round 2.
