🥩 O'Connor Angus: 250g Striploin MBS3+ (VIC) ($58.00) 🥔 Baked dutch cream potato; Parmesan butter, rosemary salt ($20.00) 🍟 Shoestring fries: saltbush salt, lemon myrtle aioli ($15.00) 🥕 Roasted carrots: ginger beer glaze, fried sahlots 🥦 Steamed asparagus: confit garlic cream, snmoked team sesame ($16.00) Between 3 people, my portion was $100.39 which included a glass of red. GOOD: 1. Big space, so there's plenty of room to host you and your friends! 2. Although hot english mustard isn't a sauce offering on the page, the team were still able to provide it for me - with my steak! I appreciated that they were accommodating. 💛 3. We were recommended their special - the baked dutch cream potato and it was good! I enjoyed the fluffy interior and how chunky it was. I wasn't a fan of the grittiness from the sauce though. 4. The staff members really cautioned us that the sides were large (and they were!). So we skipped entree and went into our main, wanting to try more of the sides. I appreciated the forewarning. 😄 5. I appreciated the complimentary bread, olive oil and vinegar at the start! NOT SO GOOD: 1. Service seemed originally a bit judgemental? When she took our order - there was a standoffish nature which I wasn't a fan of. However, the waitress did come around later and check in on how our food was going 🤔 2. The general vibes didn't feel special at Blackbird. The lighting was a bit dark but instead of intimacy it felt more... poorly lit. The decor also feels slightly outdated to me. A strong leaning towards being modern & classy but I felt like there was no character, no personality. 3. Least favourite side was the steamed asparagus. The flavour wasn't there, didn't stand out, and felt like I was just eating plainly steamed asparagus. 🥲

We had a lovely experience at Blackbird Melbourne. We ordered the seafood platter to share, and it was fresh, well-prepared, and very enjoyable. The service was excellent—attentive, friendly, and made us feel well looked after throughout the meal. A special mention to the eggplant steak, which was absolutely delicious and a standout dish for us. Overall, a great dining experience with quality food and service.

We had a reservation here for four girls last night, for a birthday dinner, we were met with great enthusiasm greetings, and the host brought us to a comfortable spot where we had our own little privacy, the host recommended us some great cocktails and mocktails which we really enjoyed. Our food was also superb , the T-bone was very tasty and well cooked (medium rare) , the rest was delicious. We even had time to take photographs, we were allowed to take pictures of the atmosphere and ourselves which was also a plus! Thanks to the lovely Host he was kind and great , very professional, would definitely come again. Loved the Lychee cocktail!

We started with the seafood platter, which was easily the highlight of the night. Everything on the platter was fresh and beautifully presented. The Moreton Bay bugs and king prawns were absolute standouts, sweet, tender and full of flavour. A fantastic way to begin the evening. We then had the beef tartare, which carried a rich mustard flavour. It was bold but not overpowering, and well balanced overall. For mains, we tried the Wallaby Wellington, which was a first for us. While it wasn’t to our personal taste, it was clearly well prepared and the pastry was cooked perfectly, golden, crisp and not greasy. Unfortunately, the steak let the experience down. Although it was cooked to the requested medium rare, it arrived stone cold, as if it had been sitting on the pass for quite some time. We sent it back, and while the staff did offer to prepare another one, we declined as we had already been seated for over 2.5 hours by that point. Service was another disappointment. Upon being seated, we ordered a wine and a scotch, but it took over 30 minutes, and a reminder to staff before they arrived. When the wine finally came out, it was the wrong bottle. Overall, the seafood was exceptional and showcased the kitchen at its best, but inconsistencies in service and execution took away from what could have been a much stronger experience.

the atmosphere was really nice, super pretty, and the service was good. the steaks were amazing, however the ‘wallaby wellington’ was quite flavourless and tasted like grass, it wasn’t to our liking. the presentation and all the other food was super nice, it’s expensive, but you expect that.
