Stayed here for a couple of nights on a recent trip to Melbourne. The rooms are quite nice and good value for money. Although one of our windows did not close properly and as such it was a bit loud in the room with passing traffic and general city noise. I would still stay here again as it was central to what we had planned for our trip. The reception staff were polite and easy to deal with.

The hotel is very well located and it's easy to find parking nearby. It has a very welcoming bar. The only problem with this hotel is that it doesn't have in-room safes! That's a huge issue. They have a safe at reception, which I think is crazy, as I assume everyone wants to maintain their privacy, and what you keep in a safe is PRIVACY. It's not the responsibility of the entire reception staff to know what people do or don't keep in their rooms. They should improve this. The key card kept getting blocked, which isn't good service. They should improve their customer service and specify in the applications they use to work with platforms like Booking.com, Agoda, etc., that the safe isn't inside the room, but at reception. That's zero privacy and doesn't give me the confidence to leave my things out for fear of the cleaning staff, etc. I already had a bad experience where the cleaning staff stole from me, so I won't stay in a hotel where I don't have my own safe. Besides, I find it inconvenient to have to go back and forth to reception every time I want to take something out of the safe. I don't consider it private at all. The manager's service was also appalling; the way she handled the situation when we discussed the safe issue (she literally told me, "If you don't like it, contact Agoda and leave"). Zero ethics! Zero solutions!

Bree from the management team went above and beyond to fulfill my weird request. I had asked that a banana be placed on the bed as a continuation of an inside joke with my partner, what we found was a hilarious and wholesome setup that absolutely made our night. Massive "thank you"! All staff were equally friendly and helpful, good location, the rooms were spotless, and the room service was great.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 Stars We had another amazing stay at the Grand Chancellor. From the moment we arrived, reception was warm and welcoming, and all the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The buffet breakfast had a great variety of choices, with something for everyone, and was a fantastic way to start the day. This is one of our favourite places to stay, and we always enjoy coming back. Comfortable accommodation, excellent service, and a wonderful experience every time. Highly recommended! 😊
