Situated on the rooftop of the iconic King & Godfree building in the heart of Lygon Street’s Little Italy, Johnny’s Green Room is a Tuscan-inspired terrace with dazzling city skyline views and a lively appreciation for la dolce vita.
Conceived by award-winning designer Dion Hall, Johnny’s captures the spirit of an Italian summer, with a semi-retractable roof that allows those warm, vibrant vibes to be enjoyed year-round. Acclaimed chef Karen Martini leads as Culinary Director, offering a relaxed menu of Italian-style sharing dishes.
The cocktail list celebrates Italy’s drinking culture, featuring fresh twists on classic favorites. It’s all about good vibes, great spirits, and drinks made for dancing or lounging on a terrazza—from spritzy and refreshing to dark and bold. There’s also a selection of quality tap beers and easy-going wines, chosen with sunshine and good times in mind.
Named after the classic Carlton nightspot that drew bohemians and notorious figures in the ’70s and ’80s like moths to a neon-lit flame, Johnny’s has been reimagined for a new generation of Carlton regulars.

Our dedicated event space runs along Faraday Side, and show cases Melbourne's stunning CBD Skyline as well as Carlton's iconic Lygon St Precinct. We provide this premium and highy requested space with bollard roping and personalised signage, along with private bar access and a dedicated host to ensure high vibes during your celebration and smooth running event coordination.

First time at this establishment which I found very hard to find and had to wait for friends to show me it was down a lane off Lygon street. The vibe and interior is very nice but the service was poor and disappointing. Upon being seated and having waited 10 minutes we had to ask for food menus. Then after 20 minutes we asked a waiter if we could order our food to be told we order food via the QR code or at the bar. I expressed it would have been good if we were told this when we were seated instead of having to wait for the time we did. The restaurant is very limited to mainly pizzas which were delicious but would be nice to have more options. It was quite loud so harder to talk to the person opposite. Would recommend the staff are better trained with prompt and professional service.

WE FOUND A FLY ON OUR PIZZA. The foods are mostly bad, too salty. The drinks are okay. The service is not that bad. The moment I found a fly on the pizza, they offered a new one immediately. I think Butter the manager handled it well. Anyway I was not satisfied with the fact that I reserved the banquette seats outside but they put me inside in the high rise seats until I asked to sit outside. The bar is quite small I gotta sit outside but got the bad view side of the bar.

I came here for an evening reunion with friends and I couldn't help but be impressed by the setting: you need to enter a narrow street, climb stairs (or take an elevator) to access the terrace, which offers a stunning view of the city. Neat decoration and cool vibes inside. I can't judge for the food because we didn't get any but we enjoyed our drinks. As a teetotaler, I benefited from some pretty decent deals for non alcoholic drinks of course. Would definitely recommend!

We booked for a birthday dinner on a Sunday at 7:45-10:30pm. The wait time for food and drinks was a minimum of 45 minutes and we had to constantly follow up to make sure nothing had been missed. When it was time to bring out the cake we were told the table beside us had claimed it and that they would have to organise getting us another. However, the food we had ordered was really good and the atmosphere was lovely. Great views of the CBD. The main issue is there’s just not enough staff to meet the amount of people that come through on weekends.

Atmosphere amazing, especially in summer, great vibe, food was very nice, pizza average, service could’ve been better, despite the service, I’d definitely be going back, drinks were lovely too!
