Rooms were very comfortable and room service was very prompt and helpful. Breakfast was really good except for the male waiter who couldn't be bothered to refill the knife container and told us to use our spoon to cut our food instead. Eventually I found a waitress who was accommodating and helpful and refilled the knife container. Other than this negative experience our stay was enjoyable.
Had an enjoyable stay, staff were helpful and friendly, but maybe a couple more were needed at rush hour in the morning when trying to get a coffee from cafe. Room was kept clean, but mabe cold water in the fridge would be nice, the bottle they gave us didn't fit. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Great hotel, have stayed three times for nearby conference. Conveniently located. More than happy with rooms, food and service. Great choice at buffet breakfast. At times the bar/restaurant gets busy and could definitely do with more staff on occasion. Young English chap keeps his cool and handles the queues/stress well. Great that parking is covered too. Will be back!
I recently stayed at Mercure Melbourne Southbank, and I can honestly say it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The staff went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable and enjoyable. A special thank you to the duty manager, who was incredibly professional, kind, and attentive throughout my visit — it truly made a difference. I also want to express my appreciation to the lady responsible for the restaurant; I unfortunately didn’t catch her name, but she was absolutely lovely and made every morning feel welcoming with her warm attitude and genuine care. Everything about the stay — from the clean and cozy room to the convenient location and excellent service — exceeded my expectations. I’m already looking forward to staying here again. Wishing the entire team, especially the duty manager and the restaurant staff, all the very best.
The hotel is conveniently located, and the lobby is beautiful, modern, and welcoming. However, the rooms themselves feel a little outdated, though they were otherwise comfortable. Self check-in was quick and easy, but there was no information provided about the hotel facilities or breakfast through this system. It may be helpful to have some information pamphlets available near the check-in computers for guests. The check-out process was also challenging. We waited at reception for a prolonged period of time without any staff present, and there was no bell or option available to request assistance. Eventually, we had to ask a waitress for help so we could access the luggage room and store our bags. Upon arriving in our room, we noticed that the sofa bed requested for our child had no pillows. As I also had an ankle injury and required extra pillows to elevate my foot, I contacted reception. My first request received no response. When I followed up approximately three hours later, the receptionist was exceptionally helpful and apologetic. She explained that there were no spare pillows or blankets available in the hotel but, after understanding that my child had none at all, she kindly managed to find two pillows for us, which we greatly appreciated. The TV remote had several buttons that did not work, and the TV itself was very laggy. After housekeeping serviced our room, we returned to find that all used towels had been removed but not replaced. We attempted to contact reception four times with no response and eventually had to go down in person to request towels, which were then provided promptly. We also requested an ice bucket and were advised that none were available for guest use. Overall, the hotel appeared to be understaffed or operating with minimal staff, which may explain some of the service issues encountered. The buffet breakfast was very average. Several items, such as bread and pancakes, tasted stale, and there were no lactose-free milk options available. Considering this is a Mercure hotel, I arrived with higher expectations regarding service and overall experience. While it certainly wasn’t the worst hotel stay I’ve had, it did fall short of expectations given the brand name and cost.
