•Ovolo South Yarra blends past, present and progressive, a place where retro chic and pop-art collide. Taking its design cues from the days of disco, rock gods and retro glamour, the vibe of Ovolo South Yarra is bold, creative and unpredictable. All mods. Zero cons. Snug room is a good size for one person. Cleanliness leaves something to be desired. Walls were dirty, someone must have dropped a drink, the otherwise was a "mystery stain" (yeah probably "that" kind), headboard stained in section, floor on sides of bed not vacuumed properly, counter near sink had marks from previous tooth brushes/toothpaste that I wiped over and to the credit appeared genuinely unable to be removed. Based on reaction of the staff working when I found the downstairs toilets (x3 of them) with poop stains, no point raising it as very blasé staff and I'm only here a couple nights (I got some dettole wipes). Bin the bathroom is broken, and the shower hose does not work properly. It has the over head shower and a handheld, you cannot get the water to go through the hand held. Bed is uncomfortable, I can feel the springs (only 1 more night, thankfully) Restaurant was okay, vibes were good. Decor is fun and retro. Area is walkable and easy trip to CBD. Laundry is out of order. Probably won't be back as cleanliness and attention to detail is something I value. It's such a shame as this is the first time using this hotel chain, don't think I will again. Staff at check in were lovely and very helpful/friendly.
Really loved this spot. Very walkable area full of great food & drink. Two Birds One Stone or Pound cafe for breakfast & dinner at Oriental Tea House & Hoppers Joint were so memorable. Ovolo had great service & bar was perfect for a signature cocktail before dinner. Best by of all so easy to get in & out of CBD by tram right outside the door or train a two minute walk away. It is full of kitchy artwork & on theme decor. And, Yes, bed was comfy too. Definitely recommend.
I don’t leave reviews much but was honestly was blown away at how fantastic this place was. The fixtures and fitouts were so much nicer than what I expected for the price of the room, it was quite high end quality , very new and modern. The staff were very nice and lots of staff around to help. Very grateful - Jarrod
Such a great location surrounded by the best cafes. Staff were incredibly lovely and accommodating (the lolly bar at the lifts were a big plus). The rooms are on the smaller side but they have done an amazing job at making it functional with a small space; everything was considered and very practical.
Everything about this place is awesome. Yes the rooms are small but they’ve been kept pretty clean and up to date. The staff are impeccable and helped me out (the guy who is nights is a legend). The price is more than ok compared to other properties. It’s astonishingly quiet and located in the heart of South Yarra. I parked my car in a garage 100m away for 5 bucks a night (weekend rate). Perfect for a weekend trip.
