Had a really great time at the restaurant. Very cool ambience with live music. Should specially appreciate the musicians we had - it was such a beautiful performance. Had one of the best fish and chips dishes in Melbourne. Perfectly presented and on top of that it was so delicious. The staff were lovely ensuring that everything was smooth with us. Cheers to the team!
Better than I expected! For $40 I was able to get a pint of Guinness and a chicken parma meal during their happy hour. The food isn’t a massive portion but it’s enough and the taste is good for a pub. Venue can get super busy so it may take some time to find a table. Go try it out
The Fifth Province feels like a place built for a slow Sunday. You walk in and the room gives you a lift. Warm light. Soft hum of people who look like they want to be there. The staff move with purpose. They see you. They listen. They care. Your pint lands on the table with a tight creamy head. You take a sip and know someone behind the bar still respects Guinness. The roast hits the table fast. The beef looks right. You cut in and it holds its shape. Good seasoning. Proper trimmings. It tastes like someone paid attention. Then the chicken arrives. You cut in and the knife drags through dry meat. No juices. No comfort. A roast chicken should feel simple and honest. This one felt like it had been waiting too long. It takes the air out of the meal. The room deserves better. The staff deserve better. A place with this kind of energy should serve food that matches it. When a venue sits in the same group as Angus and Bon you expect tighter standards. You expect care on every plate. You leave thinking the bones of a great Sunday are here. They just need the kitchen to rise to the same level as the bar and the people who run it.
I had a friend's birthday (Irish theme) and it was my first time at the Fifth Province. We were looked after and had a fantastic experience. Toby was lovely and helped us with organising the birthday and provided food recommendations for dietary requirements option in our party. The food was a definitely a hit!! Great Irish pub vibes and definitely a place to come by for a drink and hang out. Thank you Toby and the team for the great service and for being so welcoming we can't wait to come back and try to actually split the "G" again
Lovely fresh made dishes with a UK flavour. A little pricey, but worth the extra money if you've got it.
