•Chiki Chan brings Asian-inspired modern Melbourne cuisine to the forefront of the Mordi Bayside. From the neon signs lighting up dark alleyways to the artwork scattered around town – we can’t get enough. We love Melbourne and we love Asian flavours. Chiki Chan is the modern definition of ‘East meets West’, but in a more down to earth, relaxed setting. At Chiki Chan, we’re not afraid to play with fire. We take what you know about the modern Melbourne kitchen and turn it all the way up; from the food – think Italian-style burrata with Szechuan chilli oil, or the ever-classic roast chook with our fun Malaysian spin – to the music, neon lights and interior. As for our drinks, we try to be as ethical and sustainable as possible, finding beauty and elegance in simplicity. There won’t be a garnish on any drink unless it’s a byproduct of the prep process, or as an ode to one of the flavours we’re highlighting. Chiki Chan is all about having a good time – so pop by and have a taste. Find out just how cheeky we can be.

Great service and atmosphere, generous portions too. The service was really friendly and attentive, including catering really well for dietary requirements. Had the $75pp set menu. I usually love Asian fusion for big, bold flavours and got some of that with the entrées, while the mains were a little more subtle. The pork wasn’t quite as crispy as I’d hoped and a bit dry so left feeling a bit disappointed in the food. Really enjoyed the desert and dumplings though. Overall, we had a great night, lots of fun, and the vibe, service, and atmosphere really made the experience special.
It was okay is the best way to sum it up in my experience. After having to wait for 30 minutes past the booking time for a table to clear up, I was quite hungry, especially at 8:20pm. The food was underwhelming. The siu mei was a great size, but was bland with no flavour. Some soy or chili soy would have worked wonders for it. The fried barramundi was essentially a curled up fish but again, lacked flavour. The beef Randang was nice which was a relief. The broccoli was also nice. The burrata was good and the coconut mochi cake was a total miss. The young short blonde girl who was serving the back corner was fantastic. Super friendly, would check in and was 100% on point. The restaurant itself looks really nice inside and has the right lighting and vibe, but my god it is loud, I couldn’t wait to eat and leave. I opted for the $75 feed me option and I feel for what you pay, you could get a lot better.
King fish - sublime! Borata- divine! Chicken dim sum - perfect! This is where we should’ve stopped, our eyes clearly bigger than our bellies. Sirlion challengingly rare, but nice, excellent sauce. Barramundi amazing presentation- needed salt and sauce. The aged duck was not amazing, underwhelming presentation: ratio of pickle to duck was weighted in favour of pickle. Veggies generous & on point, desert passé. The $85 pp feed me was delightful overall, two of your listed beers were not available but your wait staff had great personalities which made everything enjoyable
@chikichan_mordi is a South East Asian fusion restaurant located right across the beach on the Centreway in Mordialloc. The venue is super vibey with neon lights, great music, a modern fit out and a fun atmosphere. The menu is breaking all the rules of typical dishes but it works and its very exciting! Order what you like or if you’d prefer them to choose, there are Feed Me options from $59pp. Both the director and head chef have worlds of experience from Crown Sydney and Lucas Group restaurants. ✔️ Beetroot Tartare, Ginger Mustard Vinegarette - this was like art, wow! I think the avocado would be better chopped it’s a little hard to scoop up! ✔️ Spicy Fish Ceviche Cracker ✔️ Szechuan Burrata, Roast Sesame Sauce, Fennel Jam - perfect pairing as the burrata is so refreshing. Would prefer the focaccia toasted for added texture. ✔️ Hibachi Grilled Wagyu Striploin, Miso Butter Sauce, Pommes Paille - it’s nicely charred and the sauce, how can you not love miso butter? ✔️ Crispy Whole Barramundi - presented so unique! Plenty of meat. Sweetness and sourness. Could have been a little crispier. ➖ XO Fried Rice, Smoked Duck Breast - I don’t enjoy duck without a crispy skin, it is however very generous! ✔️ Inasal Chicken, Kamatis Salad - delicious! ➖ Coconut Mochi ➖ Yuzu Meringue Overall we were impressed by the creativity of the menu and the venue makes you feel like you’re somewhere in the city, not in the burbs! Music could have been a little louder to drown out the noise from the bar and kitchen, but maybe Sundays are for chill. A gem in the South East! 🎶 Live DJ every Saturday from 8pm. 🍸 Fri–Sat 12–4pm bottomless lunch $59pp + $30pp for bottomless drinks.
Great atmosphere for a small cosy restaurant. The foods are bloody amazing. Loved the crispy barramundi, great flavouring. Oysters are so fresh and delish. The roast duck is so good, not oily and that gamy taste that you get from the restaurant that you see with the duck hanging by the window.
