We loved this hotel. Wonderful convenient location in the National Park and we saw lots of wildlife within the hotel grounds. The evening meal at the Highlands restaurant was ok but overpriced (the staff were lovely). The pub is very casual with a much more varied menu and good hearty food at a more reasonable price. We were in a contemporary spa cabin and it was comfortable and spacious. Be aware that you have to walk on the (fantastic):wooden pathways to get to the main lodge and restaurants. There are some lights along the pathways but it's useful to take a torch to be able to spot animals. Umbrellas are provided. Buy the national parks bus ticket to take the bus up to Cradle mountain and there is a bus stop in easy walking distance from the hotel. There is no WiFi in the rooms but there is WiFi in the reception area.. Overall, it's quite pricey to stay at this hotel but you're paying for the amazing location. I would love to stay here again if I ever return to Tasmania.
Excellent location. We saw some wombats, echidnas and pademelons on the property. Good facilities. Nice lounge area with fire places, and great atmosphere in the Tavern Bar & Bistro. Wonderful friendly helpful staff. Generous complimentary treats in the cabin. However, the fire place in the cabin we had, needs to be resealed, as it recirculated a lot of smoke back into the room. Also, the Highland restaurant wasn't open for dinner on either evening we stayed.
We had a fantastic stay - the area is so beautiful with lots of wildlife - wombats, wallabies etc. So many options of walking trails. Great food and excellent service. Slightly overpriced - it's 5 star prices for a 4 star hotel, but overall a great stay.
Had the most amazing stay. The location and walking trails were absolutely stunning. It was really nice to see the wallabies and wombats roaming the grounds too. We'll definitely have to come back in the winter to see what it's like in the snow!
This is not a review, it's a warning! Firstly I do not blame the staff working for this hotel one bit, they are simply doing a job in an environment where something is seriously rotten. This hotel I would say is expensive ($2750 x 2 rooms for 2 nights) for the disappointing product that they deliver. Where is all the revenue going, none of it can be going back to the facility! The rooms are dated, worn out and dirty. Everyone in the good reviews, stated the location, but there are many other higher quality options that are not so expensive within a few mins drive. But look even if it was $200 per night I would have still left, which is what we did, LEAVE! immediately after checking in and seeing the rooms. We did get a full refund, and I i truly appreciated this, it allowed us to book a beautiful hotel within stones throw from this sadly disappointing establishment. If more people speak up and show that this standard is unacceptable, management/owners will have no choice but to upgrade and bring a hotel that has so much potential in line with its local competitors. I really don't think this is about perspective either, I have stayed all over Australia in many different level accommodations, I've been to far flug places in remote locations. This truly is just about pride of ownership in an establishment, about really caring about customer experience and understanding that word of mouth is such a powerful tool. Please use your due diligence before making a booking here.
