The AQWA (Aquarium of Western Australia) is an aquatic wonderland that will transform any event into an underwater dream come true! AQWA Perth is a privately owned company committed to inspiring awe and respect for the unique marine life of Western Australia. When it opened in 1988, it was Australia's largest aquarium.
The Aquarium of Western Australia is divided into five distinct areas, each with its own theme to explore. The Shipwreck Coast is a walk-through aquarium with giant sharks, octopuses, stingrays and other amazing creatures. It incorporates the largest acrylic underwater walk-through tunnel in Australia. The jewel in this aquarium's crown is the Coral Reef — one of the largest living coral reef exhibits in the world.
Situated in the heart of Hillarys Boat Harbour, AQWA Australia is a unique setting for all types of social and business events. This was a lovely place to go for an afternoon of exploring. The staff are lovely, welcoming and helpful when we went through the entrance to purchase our tickets. I actually went here for Mother's Day. It was busy but not enough that we didn't get to see anything. Everything was well looked after, tanks were clean and all the fish looked healthy. The tunnel was a wonderful experience, the fish/ sharks were so close and we had awesome views. Food prices were a little expensive so we decided to eat elsewhere. The souvenir shops had lots to offer and the kids picked something small each. It was overall a lovely afternoon. My kids loved it also.

Haven’t been in over 20 years but still loved it with my nieces. The cafe food is great and reasonably priced although you can bring your own lunch. The touch pool was a bit disappointing as it used to have sea urchins and sea cucumbers, maybe even a turtle at one point, but now it’s only starfish and sharks. Surprisingly the main tank has not changed at all and there are no plants or coral, just the fish, stingrays, turtle and sharks. It’s still amazing but just think it’s missing some colour and life. Still highly recommend a visit and advise going outside of school holidays.

For international travellers, try to come on weekend morning with swim gears and enjoy the family beach beside the aquarium. Weekend has free transperth usage of public transport. AQWA mainly displays mammals and fishes native to Western Australia sea. There also snorkeling session with the sharks, glass boat behind the scene viewing, touching of sea stars and sharks. Easily a full day spent at AQWA. Board at Perth station and alight at Stirling. Turn left out to stand 6 for bus 423, alight at West Coast Dr before St.Helier. Once alight, turn left and keep right to see the boardwalk area and Voila! Same bus stop and way to return.

We visited AQWA during the school holidays. It was afternoon but it was pretty busy. Luckily, we bought the tickets in advance. AQWA is not the biggest aquarium we have ever visited, but it surely has it's own magic especially about Australian marine lives. We really enjoyed our time, and even the souvenir shop was packed, we managed to get us a small thing as memory. 😍😍

She would love this place. An awesome aquarium, really, Nice ambient, awesome variety of fishes, they all look cute, and there were Sharks too. With Even some fishes outside that You could touch, the food was also Nice (Fryed fish is the only thing I tried but was Awesome)
