Overall, The Mondrian is a hotel I love but there are a few areas of improvement: Pros: - amazing location, a truly beachside hotel within walking distance to the buzz of James St. The close proximity to playgrounds and Tallebudgera Beach is a major plus for families! - rooms are modern and beautifully appointed and very child friendly - the gym is great and the pool is small, but still very lovely - great breakfast service. I availed of my Accor privileges which was great value. Our waiter Ansa/Anna was exceptionally lovely Cons: - staff hospitality was very variable, ranging from exceptional (there was a lovely man from NZ whose name I didn't catch but he was warm and welcoming and extremely kind) to somewhat apathetic. I think staff training would be worthwhile to standardise the experience. - the lifts! We were there in peak season and it would take an average of 8-12 minutes to secure a lift, by which point we were often packed like sardines! It was such a constant source of delay that we had to factor it into our schedule. An additional lift would really enhance the experience - extra cost of amenities. Charging guest parking for a five star hotel is really extortionate and unnecessary. Self parking should be a standard inclusion. We also had to pay for surfboards and cabanas (the latter being $100!) - having complimentary use of these would be a lovely touch as is offered in other places like Halcyon House.

We were disappointed with our stay at what is marketed as a luxury hotel. When we went to the concierge to ask why our room was not the one we had booked, she insisted it was correct, explaining that there are only six rooms with a full ocean view, which are randomly assigned to guests. This was never communicated at the time of booking, and none of my Accor Gold benefits, such as late check-out, were offered. I’ve stayed at many Accor hotels, and this was by far the worst service I’ve experienced. Paying a premium price for a room that does not meet advertised expectations feels misleading and like false marketing. That said, there were some things I liked. The location is great, the ocean view—although partial—was beautiful, and I enjoyed features like the automatic blinds, hidden TV, and the super comfy bed. However, the service could have been handled better, and it would be helpful to have more photos to manage guest expectations. Calling different rooms the “same room” felt misleading, as sizes, layouts, and views differ, yet the price is the same. Overall, it’s a nice space and a comfortable stay, but clearer communication and more transparency would make the experience truly feel luxury. That said, I will not be returning anytime soon, as the price does not reflect the experience. There are better options at similar or better value, such as Crown Sydney.

Absolutely loved our stay at Mondrian Gold Coast. Easily one of the best hotels my wife and I have stayed in. The location is perfect, being right across the road from the beach and the level of detail in the architecture, finishes and interior design created a truly memorable experience which is commensurate of the price. The only criticism I have is around the pool area. It’s quite small for a hotel of Mondrians size and given it’s not an adults only area, can get quite busy with people splashing and jumping in the pool. Would have been great to have two pools, one which was adults only and another separate one for kids. The pool beds are located right near the pool and can get wet easily. It’s not the most relaxing experience when you’re trying to read or unwind. The magnesium pools promote a health and wellness mantra, but when you go to use them they are full of kids which is not overly enticing for an adult to utilise. The design and amenities in the room are some of the best I’ve seen in any hotel I have stayed in. Loved the lighting, curved interiors and technology in the room. It created an ambient experience which my wife and I loved. The hotel gave us an early check in and late check out free of charge which was very much appreciated. I would recommend Mondrian to any of my friends and family. One of the best hotels I’ve stayed in quite easily and we would definitely be back!

Overall the staff were all excellent. Knoweldgeable positive and friendly...the opposite of smilebots we've encountered elsewhere. The eating and social areas were alive without being so loud that you couldn't converse. Food was all good quality. Room was excellent with an awesome view (we were upgraded). The only downside was a few persistent flies in the downstairs restaurant on the afternoon Valentine's dinch we enjoyed. The staff were professional and did their best to take care of the issue.

Room was incredible. Hotel staff were incredible. Paying $600 for a room and then having to pay $110 for one night parking was extortion. We were lucky enough to get an early check in and late check out and were stung with an addition $70 parking fee. $110 for parking for 1 night - parking fine would have cost less. The room would have been cheaper to book via booking.com instead of direct with the hotel The AC barely worked and I couldn’t sleep. We also had to chase up room service 3 times to check dietaries and ended up going to bed hungry because they couldn’t work it out. The pool was incredible until a handful of local mums bought their kids in to play and scream around the pool after school pick up. Really discrediting the luxury appeal. Such a shame about the pool and particularly the parking. I can see why the review average suffers. The accomodation itself is flawless.
