Reviews for Hyatt Regency Sydney

We were charged $700+ for a king room with no balcony or views. I dont understand why it was so expensive as it was such a standard room. The experience felt more transactional than memorable as soon as we arrived. Small details that should be standard were overlooked. My daughter’s pillow was simply a bath towel folded and inserted into a pillowcase. They also do not use cot sheets. The street traffic was loud. The room was lcoated on level 7, but you could hear allot of the traffic, sirens and abit of the night life. I have never experienced that in a hotel before. When I asked reception for a small amount of washing detergent to clean my daughter’s bottles, as I had forgotten mine, they made me feel silly for asking and directed me to a Seven Eleven instead. We also asked reception to book a table at the restaurant since it was closed at the time, and although they said they would arrange it, no booking was made. Overall, the service did not reflect the price point, and the stay lacked the care and hospitality you would expect. However, the location of the hotel is very convenient. It is walking distance to the harbour. Additionally, the cot provided was safe and spacious and felt comfortable that my daughter would not be able to fall out. Unfortunately, these are the only good things I can mention about our stay.

EDIT: I just got off a 15 hour flight in basic economy and had a better night sleep than at this supposedly “5-star” $400 a night hotel. This was one of the most atrocious hotel experiences I’ve had in my life. The only silver lining is that the housekeeping staff were nice and tried to be responsive within their power. One half of the bed in our room was tremendously uncomfortable and so worn that we could feel the metal from the springs in our back. The king bed was two twin beds next to each other, and one side was a normal, mildly uncomfortable bed. The other side seriously had lost all support mechanisms and seemed decades old. It was the worst mattress I’ve ever slept on. We called the front desk multiple times to complain and were offered additional padding for the mattress in the form of a duvet cover first and eventually a mattress pad, which did change the feel in terms of covering up the spring-in-the-back feeling, but it did not change the fact that the mattress was fundamentally unacceptable and lacked any support structure. We were shocked that at this price point, and as a reportedly 5 start hotel, the solution to an unacceptable mattress that’s better suited for a dumpster than a hotel was for housekeeping to have to add extra layers of padding rather than for us to be changed to another room. I feel I completely wasted my money and a night of my life at the Hyatt regency in Sydney and I will avoid Hyatt in the future. Unfortunately, the reason we chose this hotel is because many reviews said the beds were comfortable, but that was absolutely not our experience and we would suggest future guests beware that at least one mattress is hideously uncomfortable and that the suggested solutions to the problem truly feel more like a college student trying to make their dorm bed somewhat tolerable using as little money as possible rather than the appropriate solution for a five star, very expensive hotel of moving us to a better room. Again, housekeeping was very nice to us and tried their best. This seems like more of a management problem.

Great location. Lovely lobby, can get busy at check in and that can impact bag collection also. Nice cocktails at the ground floor bar. Friendly staff at check in. Room is a nice size. View of darling harbour was nice. Great location. Not far from Town Hall train station. Plenty of restaurants nearby.

Sorry this hotel isn't a 5 star . Reception staff are nice room was small and basic bed was like a rock bedding linen was basic not even a bottle of water... cleaners didn't bother to take out rubbish or collect used towels in bathroom crumbs that had spilled from meal were still on the floor We paid top dollar for our room and got a second floor with a view of a roof and noisy road ... we had also booked over 5 months ago so would assume that a better room could have been offered anyway not a 5 star standard and the location isn't great don't recommend

We stayed 5 nights here for New Year. The room we had was very basic, no hot tub or pool. However the service was amazing. Staffs are super friendly. The Rooftop bar and Club access offer nice view of Darling Harbour. Breakfast were awesome with a lot of choices. Easy walk to Darling Harbour and train station. 25 minutes walk to the Opera House.
