Great food and ambience. I loved every dish, especially the spicy sashimi — I’ll definitely order it again next time. Hector the chef and Tom the sommelier truly made our night special. Highly recommended!

I recently visited Kuro and honestly had such an incredible experience. The food and service were exceptional from start to finish. Every fish dish brought completely different, fresh, and unique flavours — you can really feel the attention to detail and quality in every bite. A special mention to Hector, the head chef, who is absolutely incredible. His passion, creativity, and love for the experience truly come through in the food and the atmosphere he creates. You can tell there’s so much heart behind everything they do. Definitely one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Sydney. Highly recommend!

I would like to start out by mentioning we do not recommend this place. I highly recommend the restaurant review the waiting time of receiving food and drinks. My partner and I came here for the first time to celebrate my Birthday. We arrived for our reservation at 7:15PM and did not leave the restaurant until 9:50PM.. this place closes at 10PM. It started with us ordering the omakase course, alongside we ordered some drinks, my partner received their mocktail quite fast (because the female waitstaff made it), however my cocktail (which was being made by the bar next door) had not been delivered for a long time and even only arrived after we received our starters. The starters already took 20-30 minutes to arrive and all the other courses after that took a long time to arrive. This did not sit right with our stomachs and by the time we finally hit our main dishes, we were unsatisfied with how we felt. Waiting a long time to eat when you're hungry is not the best feeling. The food itself is nothing to die for. Some of the course items were over sauced and they use very similar taste to each other. It definitely did not justify an almost 3 hour wait time. I do want to mention the female waitstaff tonight was being as accommodating as she could, explaining the dishes and ingredients to us as it was served. Which we appreciated. The waitstaff also cleared our tables pretty quickly after each dish was finished. After reviewing the reviews here we finally understood, this was a reoccurring issue and unfortunately, it does not seem like this restaurant will change. The reviews date back to even over a year ago detailing the wait time for their dishes. It seems like this restaurant is only recommended and highly rated because they pay for Google ads. We recommend putting your wallet elsewhere. I unfortunately felt very guilty about having dinner at a place like this as my partner came to visit me from overseas. We already have limited time together and found that this was a waste of our time together. I can only hope that the restaurant can consider their customers situation, their time and their money.

Booked the special Nikkei pop up to celebrate my birthday. Chef Hector Chunga is one of the most talented Peruvian chefs I followed since his time as Chef of the now closed Warike. This limited time Nikkei popup was an experiment to showcase Japanese Peruvian cooking and he definitely nailed the menu. The scallop nigiri was melt in the mouth fresh and delightful with its spices, the potato cake was a must not miss. Also the beef tataki was gorgeous and beautifully presented. We had a sampler of their Tiger's milk plate with 5 small dishes that really told the story of ceviche and tiraditos from Peruvian japanese cuisine. The hit for me was the charcoal bbq octopus and the duck. Both just gorgeous and refined. Kuro is normally a Japanese omakase but the pop up event really brought something new on to the dining scene. I hope they bring many more Peruvian Japanese dishes on to the menu permanently.

We came here for my foodie wife's birthday. We had the premium chefs selection menu. The grilled imperador was so crispy and moist at the same time. The service was great, and food was wonderfully executed, highly recommended!
