We had dinner here for our anniversary. The first three courses went smoothly, but the next ones took a long time to arrive. From the third course onward, it took about 45 minutes, and by then our hunger and anticipation had already passed. The fifth course arrived more than 30 minutes after we finished the fourth. We took our time to really eat and savor every moment and meal, as we know the courses are not meant to be hurried. In total, we spent almost three hours dining, and we were already very sleepy. I’m not sure if that’s too long, as we’ve tried several fine-dining restaurants in Sydney as well. In terms of food, three of the dishes were almost identical in taste. What I did enjoy were the arancino and the tiramisu. We also found some broken shell in the crab pasta. One piece of the fish is so dry. Steak not sliced the same. Service, not too warm, everyone’s in a hurry. Plus one of the server smells.
Olio hosted our lunch wedding ceremony and reception and it was nothing short of exceptional. They presented us a package that suited our budget and we were supported throughout the event planning by their events team (Shout out to Amber and Christine). Our guests raved about the food, many citing it as the best 'wedding food' they'd ever had. Generous, delicious and perfectly presented. Served on time by a friendly, efficient and proficient team. All dietaries were catered for with no fuss or additional surcharges. With an all-inclusive package offering great value, we only needed bring ourselves and some modest decor - not much needed as the restaurant is beautiful! Our ceremony was held on the terrace, with drinks and dining inside the main restaurant. We had 40 guests so there was plenty of space for dining and dancing. We had the most beautiful and memorable day. The location is so easy and accessible, and great for getting wedding photos in the alleyway and surrounds. Highly recommend and thanks again Olio for helping make our wedding the best day of our lives. Cheers, Cath & John (10 Oct 2025)
We did the 3 course lunch special for $59. Food was okay. Service - i guess our experience would have been better if they were more attentive to the guest. It was not busy and there were a few waiters but felt that like everytime we needed something we had to wait for a bit to get someones attention. Just imagine when they were busy. The onky thing i enjoyed was the tiramisu.
Overall, it was a good experience. The place looks nice, and we were the first customers to dine that evening. The first few dishes were presented beautifully, with detailed explanations—just like in a fine dining restaurant. However, as more people arrived, the service started to feel a bit rushed. Some cutlery was missing, and at one point, a waitress accidentally spilled some sauce but instead of wiping it up, she just covered it with another plate. One more thing worth mentioning—the waitress who served us was very kind and polite, but unfortunately, she had a strong body odor, which made it a little hard to enjoy the meal fully. The food itself was good, and with a bit more attention to service consistency, this place could easily offer an excellent dining experience.
Francesca and Tara were entirely amazing. I ordered the arancini (absolutely delicious), gnocchi (exactly the right balance between salty, umami and rich), pannacotta (perfect balance between creamy and tangy - from the passion fruit) and the pomegranate crush cocktail (slightly bitter, amazing as a palate cleanser). If you want something memorable with five-star quality that won’t break the bank, definitely try Olio! My only complaint is that I don’t have their recipes!
