Our fabulous Gazelles restaurant is situated on the lower ground floor, where the original dining room was also located over 75 years ago and seats up to 150 people. When the dining room underwent renovations in 1997, it’s original designs were taken into consideration and it was restored to its former glory. The space retains the elegant ambience and even the dining chairs were specifically designed and built based on photos of the original chairs. No expense was spared to ensure that a dining experience in Gazelles is relaxing and satisfying. It’s not all just about Katoomba accommodation at The Palais, we go above and beyond to provide a full experience!
We could not have been more comfortable or more in awe of this grand old hotel. The history & atmosphere is unbeatable. Friendly, helpful staff with much to offer. Our room was spotless & the bed super soft & comfortable. Just a stunning place to stay & we are very grateful. Will definitely be back. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️❤️
My Wife and I had the pleasure of staying at the Palais Royale Hotel for 3 nights. What a beautiful old building, full of old world charm, old world furnishings and super helpful staff. The rooms are super spacious, nicely furnished, toastie warm. The bathroom is large enough to play ten pin bowls in it, with a full size bath and shower over for that long hot soothing soak. The hotel is super convenient, just 20 minutes walk to Echo Point and all of your cafes, restaurants, supermarkets etc are within a short 5-10 minute walk. Heaps of free on site parking, beautiful garden. Pricing was not cheap, but well worth the experience that we had. We will be back, great experience!
The hotel is a beautiful heritage building, nicely restored, and still in Australian private ownership. That is very commendable. The service was very friendly, and the noisy fridge was solved quickly. The room was quite okay — nothing spectacular, but it was clean and fairly spacious. Unfortunately, the water in the shower was not really hot and the water pressure was low. There were no extra pillows besides the four provided, and the pillows were fairly flat. The Continental breakfast is okay, but again fairly limited. The prices of any extras are on the higher side. It's okay for being included and you won't go hungry. We tried the sauna and spa. Unfortunately, the spa was not working, and the sauna didn't go above fifty degrees, which doesn't really classify as a sauna. It also needs some TLC, with mould and rotten wood around the skirting.
Beautiful historic hotel, cosy, clean rooms with original leadlight windows and a luxurious bed. I sat out on a small balcony with a drink and nibblies and had friendly cockatoos fly down and join me. Very friendly and helpful staff, and a great lounge/ bar with a fireplace to have a drink and read a book. Quiet with off street parking and only a 50 m walk into the main street for restaurants, and shops. Also it was really good tobe able to leave my car in the carpark and be able to walk to all the main tracks and Scenic World as it is chaos to drive there( though it was school holidays when I was there) and super expensive to park, I checked it out and it was $48 for 2 hours. I have already recommend the Palais to family and friends who are visiting the Blue mountains this year Thank you
Pros: Michelle was the best. As soon as we entered she made us feel very welcome. The room itself was very clean and tidy. Clean walls. The mattress was super comfortable and plush. The bathroom was very spacious. The location was super convenient and perfect. Near the Main Street in Katoomba. There was ducted aircon in the rooms. The hotel is charming, and has a lot of interesting history and decor. Cons: Because of the age of the hotel, unfortunately under the carpet is old wood, which creaks. Which meant that in the morning we were woken up a few times with people walking by our room to go downstairs. No elevator as far as I’m aware. The breakfast was a bit disappointing, you had to pay extra to get any hot meals. Otherwise it was just toast, cereal, juice tea coffee and yoghurt. The shower pressure was a little bit weak in my opinion. It wasn’t the worst, just something I noticed. The washing utilities in the shower looked nice (body wash, shampoo, conditioner) but only the body wash pump worked. The other two weren’t working/pumping anything for some reason. The bathtub itself had random chips in the base as well. Half the channels on the tv didn’t work unfortunately. We tried to use the screen share section of the tv, but that didn’t work either even after trying both of our phones. And we’re young, tech savvy people in our 20s, we weren’t sure why it didn’t work. Overall I would stay again. We mostly enjoyed our stay.
