Our fabulous Gazelles restaurant is situated on the lower ground floor, where the original dining room was also located over 75 years ago and seats up to 150 people. When the dining room underwent renovations in 1997, it’s original designs were taken into consideration and it was restored to its former glory. The space retains the elegant ambience and even the dining chairs were specifically designed and built based on photos of the original chairs. No expense was spared to ensure that a dining experience in Gazelles is relaxing and satisfying. It’s not all just about Katoomba accommodation at The Palais, we go above and beyond to provide a full experience!
Location fantastic. Staff, true meaning of service with a smile and gracious as hosts. The room however for some reason was triggering claustrophobia in me, though i don't normally feel that. Since the hotel was fully booked, i couldn't be moved to another room. Please update the lights, its like bright as candles only. The breakfast was ok but a little underwhelming. My wife had problem with both lactose and gluten and the offering didn't help her much. But i appreciate the fact that it exists. The building sure needs some TLC, its showing. Things I found were more on the side of old and depressing than classic and charming. That being said, I truly believe the place could turn around if the owners were to make it happen. Good luck.
Great location in middle of town. Can walk everywhere. Lovely old hotel - very clean spacious rooms. Helpful staff. Old world feeling. I would have loved to see a fireplace in the main lounge area for cold winter days/nights. Would create a lovely area to sit.
We could not have been more comfortable or more in awe of this grand old hotel. The history & atmosphere is unbeatable. Friendly, helpful staff with much to offer. Our room was spotless & the bed super soft & comfortable. Just a stunning place to stay & we are very grateful. Will definitely be back. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️❤️
In the heart of Katoomba a really easy spot to get to and generous size rooms. There is no elevator however has its own sauna downstairs and generous parking. Just up the road from Canton place and aldi. Stone throw walk to great coffee and the Bowery. Service can vary
My Wife and I had the pleasure of staying at the Palais Royale Hotel for 3 nights. What a beautiful old building, full of old world charm, old world furnishings and super helpful staff. The rooms are super spacious, nicely furnished, toastie warm. The bathroom is large enough to play ten pin bowls in it, with a full size bath and shower over for that long hot soothing soak. The hotel is super convenient, just 20 minutes walk to Echo Point and all of your cafes, restaurants, supermarkets etc are within a short 5-10 minute walk. Heaps of free on site parking, beautiful garden. Pricing was not cheap, but well worth the experience that we had. We will be back, great experience!
