Refettorio OzHarvest Sydney is an Australian-first, social impact collaboration between OzHarvest and world renowned chef, Massimo Bottura and his charity Food for Soul. As part of a global project, Refettorio OzHarvest Sydney brings together those in need with a warm, nourishing meal in a unique, community hub setting in Surry Hills.
Based on our zero-waste philosophy, rescued ingredients will be transformed by OzHarvest chefs into gourmet seasonal vegetarian meals.
The Refettorio offers a free lunch made with love to those experiencing food insecurity. By hosting a paid event, you are helping to ensure we can keep offerings these meals and nourishing those who need it most.

It’s a wonderful experience to hv lunch at this amazing & cosy restaurant. Their food is scrumptious and beautifully presented. The chefs are so creative and professional to create the weekly 3-course vegetarian set meal with the odd bunches of food. The volunteer staff are friendly with great gratitude and respect. Really appreciate their hospitality and concepts of running the restaurant which helps those vulnerable communities in need. I hv to salute them for their service and dedication! 👍🤗💖 thank you for everyone who made this possible for the communities!

I had a beautiful experience in this restaurant! Every volunteer staff was so helpful and lovely, made my first visit pleasant. The food was amazingly made, was so flavorful. I really enjoyed every single moment. Would love to come back. Thank you so much everyone who made dishes, served them for me, also related to all the work to let me have this memorable and heartwarming experience! You guys are the best!

All I can say is wow! What a delightful place. The volunteers were so wonderful and the food and atmosphere was superb! Menu changes weekly. Highly recommend and they offer the option to gift a meal to someone too! You can donate on your way out. We dropped the hint they should release a recipe book as the food is fantastic!

I went for dinner with a group of 20 ladies and it was such a fun thing to do together. The volunteer waiters were so friendly and efficient, the food was delicious and beautifully presented and the unlimited (non alcoholic) drinks were refreshing on a warm spring evening. The restaurant is very easy to get to on public transport and the interiors are bright and spacious. I highly recommend a visit here!
