Great Location, only a 5 min walk to Central Station and 10 mins to Chinatown, 20 mins to Darling Harbour. Upon checking in we noticed that we were not offered the same as other guests checking in - complimentary breakfast, complimentary upgrades. The staff didn't even notify us that there was a kids play room or kids activities that was happening during our stay. We happened to find out on the last day of our stay. They didn't even bother to tell us which lift to use to get to our room as the hotel is long and splits into 2 sides. The beds are way too soft and the showers don't drain fast enough to have a nice proper shower. The rooms are very spacious, clean and a/c worked well and did not feel stuffy, however there was a lack of amenities - no toothbrush/toothpaste, comb. We had to change rooms because of the bed and was asked to bring our luggage down so they can get the other room ready. I had some yoghurt and kimchi that needed to be kept in the fridge and kindly asked them to keep it in the fridge until we came back just after lunch, but unfortunately I had to throw it out as they left it at room temperature (mind you it was 40 degrees that day). The pool looked much nicer in the photo than in person, it was very cold, my young daughter couldn't be in there for more than 20 mins as her lips started to turn blue, however spa seemed quite nice though I wasn't able to fully appreciate it with the little one. Also, if you needed some towels for the pool, you had to go all the way to reception to ask for it before going back up to the pool. You don't find out until you get to the pool area. Overall, great location if you needed a place next to the train station, but the service is quite poor. The hotel is quite old and run down so don't expect anything fancy.

The location is fantastic. A few min walk from Central and Surry Hill. Not far from CBD. It has a him, a swimming pool where one can actually swim, a sauna. Rooms are spacious and no-nonsense. Minibar is way overpriced though. Beds are too soft and, in our room (1003) there was a constant humming at night whose source remained unknown. It is an excellent family-friendly hotel. We are a couple, but we loved the fact that parents can take kids to the swimming pool… which then is very noisy. I suggest swimmers to go to the pool at 7 am. In the evening, go to the sauna. Kids don’t use it! The biggest problem is the elevator. It can be overbooked and you end up waiting for 5 minutes before going up or down. Horrible time is around 8 am… Overall, I liked it. But I like kids 🤣

Follow up review : The front desk has given refund to my account and everything got sorted out. Special thanks to Bikram for the support and assistance on this matter. They also take this feedback and improve the administrative process. ~~~~~~~~ The one star is given to the service. I have spent weeks to check with their hotel staff on clarifying the charges they deduct from my credit card, and still got no solid response. Basically I did not consume any items in the room but there’s a AUD 5 per night charge put on the bill, and what’s more, I should have 3 nights credit of no-cleaning incentive given by the hotel, which I only used part of it in their Surry hill bar and should still have surplus. I asked the hotel to refund the deducted amount but then there’s no feedback and follow up from them. Aside from this, the hotel location is great, 5mins walk to train and metro and light rails. Room is mostly clean though they may have missed to replenish the tissue roll after cleaning. the sauna room is very good to kick your fatigue away.

Rydges Sydney Central is a perfect location in the city, right by central station it is perfect for convenience and accessibility to all parts of Sydney. The hotel offers a great experience with all the staff willing to go above and beyond to assist you - Bikram at the front desk was so helpful at check in! The breakfast buffet at Manna Loft offers a broad variety of food catering to everyone. The staff constantly refreshing to ensure quality and checking that guests had all they needed. I cannot recommend Rydges enough! We will definitely stay again.

Couldn’t speak more highly of the staff and overall hospitality here - we genuinely felt so welcome the entire stay. We stayed for our anniversary, and the team really went out of their way to make it special. We were unexpectedly upgraded and walked into a lovely welcome card, wine and a cheese platter in the room which was such a thoughtful touch. The room was super clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. Every staff member we came across was friendly and happy to help, which honestly made the biggest difference. Breakfast was also really good with heaps of options, and the fresh juice station was something a bit different that we loved. We also spent an afternoon at the brewery downstairs for a few drinks and pizza - the pizza was seriously great, proper wood-fired with that charred crust and really fresh toppings. Overall just a really easy, enjoyable stay with great service and little touches that made it memorable. Would definitely recommend and we’ll absolutely be back.
