Reviews for Rydges World Square

I recently stayed at the Rydges World Square and had a fantastic experience. From the moment I arrived, the concierge team was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the check-in process smooth and pleasant. The room itself was spotless. It was notably clean and had a lovely fresh scent upon entry, which is always a great first impression. The location is hard to beat. It’s situated in a prime spot, and it was a very easy walking distance to public transport, making it simple to get around and explore the city. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable, well-located, and professionally run place to stay. I’ll definitely be back!

This is one of the most overpriced hotels we have ever stayed in. Please choose another hotel in the vicinity. The only benefit of this hotel is its location, which is great. We traveled as a party of six and stayed for a total of 5 nights. A couple with two children and two elderly parents. After making a fully refundable booking, we wrote to the hotel requesting adjoining rooms. The response from the hotel was that they would try to accommodate this request. On checking in, they informed us that adjoining rooms were not possible at the time, but they would try to arrange it the next day when occupancy was lower. That night, after speaking to the duty manager (Rebecca, who was extremely helpful), she informed us that for the category of rooms we booked, there was no possibility of adjoining rooms. Up to that point in time, two staff members had not informed us of this and had given us the impression that adjoining rooms would be possible. We explained that this was extremely important to us, and had we known that adjoining rooms were not possible, we would have booked another hotel. She also explained that since the reservation was made through a third party, we would have to contact that party should we want to switch to a different hotel at that point in time. There seemed to be no accountability for statements made by staff members. Rebecca, however, arranged for us to move to adjoining rooms the next day, which were smaller than the ones we initially booked, with no reduction in fees. We were very thankful that she did this. However, when we tried to get new key cards from the front office the next evening, the staff there seemed clueless about any change in rooms. The service from this hotel continued to be awful. Rooms are generally very dirty and are dated. We constantly had to ask for extra towels to be sent to the room, and even basic things like tissue paper were at times not replenished. When doing daily cleaning, we would have to ask for our dustbins to be emptied. Our beds were never tidied, and cleaners never even bothered to place the bedsheets on the beds properly. Pictures of the beds after housekeeping had visited are attached. The noise from the road is awful and if you are a light sleeper just be prepared to get woken up by vehicles driving past. Please avoid this hotel if you can!

Our family recently stayed at Rydges World Square. While the location is excellent, we were disappointed with the overall service experience. At check-in, there was a lot of back and forth, and our rooms were not ready at the scheduled time. We were given complimentary drink vouchers and told to wait in the bar until we were collected when the rooms were ready. After waiting about 45 minutes with no update, we went back to reception, only to be told that they had forgotten about us. This was not a great start to our stay. One of the rooms we booked included an extra bed. We were assured at reception that everything was arranged, but when we arrived at the room, the extra bed had not been set up, and we had to follow this up again. Because of the inconvenience, we returned to reception and suggested complimentary breakfast as compensation for the trouble. The hotel agreed to provide free breakfast for 3 out of the 5 of us, and only for one of our two mornings. While we appreciated the gesture, it felt like a partial solution given the situation. On a positive note, the location of the hotel is fantastic, within walking distance of the train station and many restaurants. Overall, for what is marketed as a relatively expensive four-star hotel, we expected a much smoother and more professional experience. Unfortunately, the service did not meet those expectations.

My stay for this time is very good. Upon arrival, front desk upgraded me to the balcony room which the room is bigger and more natural lighting. I am also able to get some fresh air through the balcony. Breakfast option is mainly the same for everyday but good quality. Hotel location is perfect for my activities and meetings for this trip. Will be back in the future.

Stayed here for 2 days 1 night in the heart of Sydney CBD. The room itself had a clean and modern vibe at first glance. I really liked the proper desk setup for work and the large window that let in plenty of natural light, giving a nice view of the plaza below. However, there were a few things that held me back from giving a full 5 stars. While the room looks good, the bed and the pillows were quite disappointing and didn't provide the comfort I expected for a city stay. The bathroom also felt quite dated compared to the rest of the room, which was a bit of a letdown. The instructions to connect to the TV were really confusing and took way too much effort to figure out. Overall, it’s still a solid choice for a short stay because the staff were friendly enough and the value for money is good given the prime location. If they can update the bedding and fix the tech instructions/signage, I’d love to come back and give them a higher rating.
