We had such a great experience at Sake. Everything we ordered was really fresh, beautifully presented and full of flavour. The sashimi and nigiri were definitely some of the best we’ve had — you could really taste the quality of the fish. The popcorn chicken was another favourite, crispy and really tasty, and the Dragon Egg dessert was the perfect way to finish the meal. We also loved that there was a great variety of dishes to choose from. Overall, a really enjoyable dinner with great food, a lovely atmosphere and a good selection of cocktails.

We recently attended an agency partner event at Saké Restaurant, The Rocks, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The shared set menu was exceptional. Every course arrived beautifully presented, showcasing fresh, high-quality ingredients and plenty of variety. The pacing was spot on, with each dish complementing the next, making the whole dining experience feel thoughtfully curated. There wasn’t a single dish that disappointed, and the balance of flavours across seafood, vegetables, steak and dessert was excellent. The service was equally impressive. The staff were warm, attentive and always seemed to appear at exactly the right moment without ever feeling intrusive. Empty plates disappeared quickly, drinks were topped up, and the team made the evening flow effortlessly. The venue itself is elegant without feeling pretentious, making it perfect for both corporate events and special occasions. A wonderful evening with outstanding food, polished service and a memorable atmosphere. We would happily return and highly recommend Saké at The Rocks to anyone looking for a premium Japanese dining experience.
Cabbage Sage
I discovered this place by chance while visiting the Vivid Sydney tunnels and had been wanting to try it ever since. I finally came last Sunday and it was well worth the wait. The female chef was incredibly friendly and made us feel so welcome. She prepared our sushi and every dish was fresh and beautifully made. Everything tasted amazing. I always believe you can judge a restaurant by its restroom and this one was absolutely first class. It was immaculate and showed just how much attention they pay to every detail. I’ll definitely be back.

Right, so I didn’t quite get the restaurant vibe and perhaps overestimated what to expect. The chef’s dining table wasn’t actually the chef’s table and the service was more like a bar table with a view of the kitchen. Some dishes were fantastic while others were just average. The staff was friendly and explained the dishes well but unfortunately not everyone else. We simply looked at the menu and guessed what we were getting. They’d place the plate and then disappear. So I can’t recommend the course menu. However, the menu with photos was great.

We visited Sake Sydney to celebrate my partner's birthday The Good Stuff: The atmosphere is top-notch—super chic and the AC is cranking (maybe a bit too hard, but more on that later). The staff were absolute legends: attentive, lightning-fast, and very professional. For starters, the seafood appetizers were divine—fresh, vibrant, and exactly what you’d expect. The sushi (Tuna and Soft Shell Crab) was also a winner. We also tried the Popcorn Shrimp - the prawns were fresh and the portion was massive. Pro tip: Don’t order this for two people unless you want to become 50% mayonnaise by the end of the night. It’s definitely a dish for a group of three or more. The "Wait, What?" Moments: Because the AC was freezing, our server kindly suggested some Miso Soup. Big mistake. Huge. It was an absolute salt bomb. I’m convinced the chef accidentally dropped a whole kilo of salt into the pot. For $10 AUD a bowl, I expected a masterpiece; instead, I got a bowl of liquid brine with two lonely cubes of tofu. My blood pressure is still recovering. Then came the Mixed Tempura. While the veggies were fine, the prawns were a massive letdown. They were tough and lacked any natural sweetness—honestly, I’ve had better textures from a rubber band. The Finish: The Matcha dessert was... fine? It was edible but about as memorable as a Tuesday afternoon. On a bright note, they did provide a complimentary mini birthday cake, which was a very sweet gesture. Verdict: Total bill: $258 AUD. For that price, I expected to be blown away, but I left feeling a bit salty (literally). The food quality just doesn't justify the price tag. Great for a drink and the vibe, but I won’t be rushing back for dinner.
