While in a fantastic spot in the city, we were quite disappointed with our stay here. We spent extra to try and get a more special experience than other city hotels we stayed in previously, but it was probably the worst experience we have had at CBD hotels so far. The check in line was long and then our room wasn't available until almost 4pm. Admittedly, we were offered a voucher for a house wine as an apology, but that was only the start. The lifts were slow the whole trip. We waited in the hallway for almost half an hour at one point to get down stairs as the lifts were very slow to arrive and then were full each time. We tried to phone reception to ask for help / to access the baggage lift, but the phone in the lobby wasn't working either. It was not uncommon to wait more than 10 minutes at each other time we needed a lift. The staff were all nice to the kids, so our issue wasn't with the staff, but more the facilities. Even ordering a cocktail at the pool held a long wait. The buffet breakfast was fine. Not great, but fine. Overall, the constant waiting took away from the ease of our stay and was hard with little kids. The rooms were not better than other CBD hotels of a cheaper price range. I wouldn't choose to stay here again with kids.
I stayed at this hotel with my daughter and was very satisfied with our stay. The location is excellent and safe, surrounded by shopping malls and many places to explore. Despite visiting during the busy Christmas season, we felt relaxed and secure. The hotel is only a 15-minute drive from the airport, making it very convenient. The staff were all friendly, the bedding was extremely comfortable, and the cleanliness of the hotel was outstanding.
Wonderful hotel smack bang in the middle of Sydney CBD..and you wouldn't know it when you are inside. The first set of lifts get yoi to the spacious lobby on Level 8 which has skylights to filter natural light through. Then you get to the second set of elevators to get to the rooms, exec club(L25) and pool/gym/spa. Of all the lifts there is only one with an updated touch screen - all the others have old fashion buttons. All have swipe access for security. While we are here - yes, the hotel has been there for a long time and it shows. But everything was squeaky clean and in good order. I was upgraded to an exec King Corner Room on the 18th floor which provided wonderful views of Center Tower, St Mary's cathedral and overlooked Pitt St Mall. Can't hear a thing that up high which is surprising given one is in the city. The room waa spacious with a large bathroom with a tub and shower. The bed was super comfy. The TV was chromecast enabled and complimentary water was provided as well. All other mini bar items were subject to order through a QR code. The lobby bar offers cocktail happy hour from 5.30pm to 6.30 pm weekdays. At those times it can get busy. The bar offers all drinks otherwise and also has a good food menu. Staff are friendly and attentive and the club sandwich was good. Breakfast is buffet at the Ten Stories restaurant and there is nothing they dont offer (except barrister coffee). The hotel has its own beehive in the botanical Gardens and so the honey is offered right next to the pancakes. It is worth a try. The hot options covered the usual items from tomatoes, sausages and scrambled eggs plus rice and Asian food options. The chefs will make any eggs upon request. I had a voucher otherwise I would have probably chosen one of the many cafes around. The pool area is lovely however there isnt much shade during the day and it can get hot in concrete jungle. But it is a lovely little oasis and lastly - the Spa. Can't recommend their treatments high enough. I went for a 3 hour Escape package and it was just wonderful.and very professional. The staff overall are amazing and make this place what it is - a 5 star experience. I would definitely come back for my next staycation.
Swissotel lives up to its reputation. The only thing is we always seem to have to wait in line for a bit to check in. However it may just be because it was busy that day. Staff are impeccable, professional and consistently provide high quality service. I recommend the bar/ cafe in the lobby. We had coffee and petit fours. My favourite hotel. Rooms are great and I like to get a corner room with a view of the city. Perfect location for all Sydney has to offer. I only wish I could do a longer stay. They are great for a short city getaway. Worth it to do.
We found this to be a great location to see a show at the Royal Theatre and to do some shopping and dining in Sydney. The staff were friendly and most requests at the various food and drink outlets were completed with efficiency and accuracy. The only slight negative was that sometimes the lifts were slow but this was in part to one of the lifts undergoing an upgrade which may help this issue in the future.
