Reviews for The Hydro Majestic

Gorgeous views, and really fascinating and beautiful historic Hotel. Staff were all friendly and welcoming. Very clean and so beautifully decorated. We stayed in a lovely valley view room in the Belgravia wing, there is no lift at this end of the Hydro but we found the stair case from the lounge to our room so pretty that we didn't mind. At check in, staff offered to have a porter take our bags to our room. Bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed a delicious 3 course dinner at the Wintergarden restaurant on site as well as High Tea (best scones I have ever eaten) for lunch the next day (didn't have room for breakfast!). Staff added special touches as we were celebrating our anniversary. Do the history tour, it's really interesting.

The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the incredible staff, with special recognition to Marcus, who ensured that our experience was nothing short of exceptional from start to finish. His dedication to delivering five-star service truly made our stay unforgettable. We were consistently impressed by his professionalism, attentiveness, and genuine care, whether it was with the room, the restaurant, breakfast, or our activities. We even had greetings in french and tailored advice for our hikes. Mahesh also deserves a special mention for his warmth and constant availability. At every interaction, he went above and beyond to accommodate our requests, always with kindness and a smile. Our room was absolutely stunning, with an incredible view that made our stay even more magical. Our dining experiences, both at the restaurant and during breakfast, were not only memorable for the delicious food but also because of the attentive and caring staff who elevated every moment. While we are tempted to explore other hotels in the area, we know we’ll be returning to the Hydro Majestic—because the exceptional customer experience and the people who made it happen are what truly set it apart.

Recently stayed at the Hydro Majestic for my friends wedding and what a beautiful venue! The scenic views of the blue mountains, the very beautiful hotel and picturesque location. Unfortunately some of this was overshadowed by the service of the hotel staff. While we were there for a wedding and a lot of the wedding party were staying at the hotel I can understand the perceived stresses of accommodating a large amount of people - it seemed like, on more than a few occasions- that some of the staff either didn't want to be there or didn't care all that much for the service they were providing. I've worked in service industry for many years and understand sometimes our personal lives can influence what happens at work; that said, when you are spending in excess of $300 per night for a hotel, you expect all aspects of the experience to be very very good. There were a few issues I found: some quite blunt, borderline rude kitchen / bar staff - inability to pay with cash and given the 'are you dumb' look when asking - the almost pathological measuring of wine pours to ensure that there was no over-pour (for a $18 glass of basic wine + surcharges) and the early closing of both the breakfast buffet prior to its stated 10am close and the bar being empty prior to its closing time also. Not all staff were like this but it was a large enough cohort to affect our experience and seemed like a morale problem (maybe due to post-covid operations?) I'm unsure, however had this been a choice hotel and not the destination of the wedding, I would have rated lower, because conversely, the staff who assisted at the front desk and alsl during the wedding and ceremony etc. Were very helpful and accommodating. Rooms are very clean and beautiful, albeit a bit oddly designed but i believe it adds to the charm Unfortunately there is a lot of construction out front of the hotel and it did become a bit of a hassle to drive in and out of an active construction site as sometimes the entrance / exits were blocked. On balance, it was a nice stay and a decent hotel, maybe in the future with some staff training or modification it'll be a great stay.

Our stay at the Hydro Majestic was immaculate. It was like walking into the great Gatsby movie. The furniture, the art, the ambiance was divine & the view… jaw dropping. We felt so welcomed & taken care of by the staff. Our 3 course dinner at winter garden was so decadent & breakfasts delicious. The room 311 had the most beautiful view & the bathroom had a huge spa bath which was thoroughly enjoyed. Highly recommend, what a stunning getaway. Sylvia

Loved every second. Have driven past on the way too and from Sydney my entire life and my 40th with the bestie was the perfect occasion. We slowed down, read books and took in the view. Wondered the halls with a glass of bubbly and took in more of the view. Left for a day spa. Returned got dressed up and enjoyed a gorgeous meal and more of that view! The staff were welcoming and were that perfect balance of friendly and familiar and mindful when to leave you in peace.
