Reviews for Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort

My husband and I just spent 3 nights at the Oaks Cypress and were really happy and satisfied with our stay. Resort facilities are excellent. However, it's a shame the lagoon pool (which is their second pool) is not an "operating area", the pool was great, but they could have the bar operating in there which would be great and a bit further away from all the kids in the main pool! Breakfast buffet is simple but great. Restaurants don't have a huge menu, but the food quality is excellent. Perfect location in the heart of hunter valley with so many vineyards around to see. The nature around was breath taking, loved waking up with the kangaroos and being in contact with nature. Super friendly and very easy-going staff. We'll come back :)

Rooms were a little dirty. Plates with food stuck on them. The balcony was sticky and unwashed. The service was very average (if not a bit below). The wifi wasn’t working properly in my room and the staff didn’t know how to fix it. I ended up figuring it out myself and the instructions they have me were way off. They offer a shuttle service and my mother-in-law called to request a pick up at about 2pm as my nephew is disabled and can’t walk. They told her the shuttles were busy and to make her way down with him on her own.

The Location is amazing yes, but unfortunately to get to your Villa isn't an easy task to achieve, due to lack of reception properly explaining how to get to your rooms and lack of lighting at night made it really hard to find, it took us a while to locate and only way i could locate was me walking around in the pitch dark with my phone light trying not to fall over and watch out for spiders and stuff. The lady at the desk wasn't really interested in us or explaining how to get to Villa properly. Breakfast was good and the bistro was okay and only okay. I would recommended better signage on how to get to Villas and maybe few more lights and staff training.

We recently organized a work conference at the Oaks Resort, Cypress Lakes in the Hunter Valley, and it was an outstanding experience. From start to finish, everything went perfectly. The staff were incredibly accommodating, and the food was fantastic throughout the event. The conference rooms were beautifully presented, laid out efficiently, and equipped with top-notch AV facilities that made our presentations run smoothly. Our team stayed in the Villas, which were well-appointed, clean, and very comfortable—everyone loved them. The next day, we held a golf day facilitated by the resort's pro shop, and they were exceptional in ensuring everything was ready for us. The golf course itself was stunning and enjoyable for players of all levels. Even beginners had a great time, and while you might lose a few balls if you’re new to the game, it’s all part of the fun. I have been invited to a charity conference coming up in December, and I’m certain it will be another amazing experience. Highly recommend the Oaks Resort for any event or getaway!

This review is just for the golf course, not the hotel. Played here in November 2024 for the first time in years. Course is a fabulous layout with loads of elevation changes. Huge resort style greens too. Some really interesting holes and none are next to each other, with the course scooting you around the wonderful terain. If you want a definition of an interesting Australian resort course, look no further.
