Reviews for Coral Sea Resort

Had such a lovely stay at Coral Sea Resort. We stayed in the Ocean Deluxe room and it was perfect. The facilities were amazing, great pool, continental breakfast included but you could pay for cooked breakfast. They had happy hours at the pool bar. Staff were really helpful, particularly Bella who went above and beyond for us during our stay. We got engaged here and my partner had arranged with the staff for our room to be decorated and had prosecco and chocolates in the room which was a special touch. We'll definitely be returning to this hotel.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A wonderful experience from start to finish. The resort is set in a beautiful location, with a stunning pool area that instantly makes you feel relaxed. The service was excellent—friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming without being overbearing. Everything ran smoothly, and the staff clearly take pride in what they do. The food was delicious and well presented, with great attention to quality and flavour. Enjoying a meal by the pool in such a lovely setting really made the experience special. A perfect place to unwind. We’ll definitely be back.

We stayed over Christmas and were frustrated by the poor communication. We weren’t aware that there are laws in Queensland that mean you can’t drink alcohol on Christmas Day unless you’re eating a meal. When we turned up after lunch, we were refused a drink, which was frustrating, especially as other guests were able to keep going up to the poolside bar after their lunch. It also wasn’t communicated that the Christmas Day evening meal was a £175 / $350 buffet running from 5:30–8pm. This wasn’t mentioned at check-in and we didn’t receive any pre-arrival email outlining Christmas Day arrangements. We only found out at 6:30pm and luckily there were some good food options in the town. The room we were in felt a bit dated, and the shower water came back up through another drain in the bathroom floor, which didn’t feel particularly hygienic. Worth noting that the beach shown in the images doesn’t lead directly to the water. Also, from November to May you’ll need a stinger suit to get into the water anywhere in Airlie due to jellyfish. This isn’t a fault of the hotel, but it would have been useful to know before booking. The gym is great and the free breakfast options are decent. If you’d like hot items or a proper source of protein, these do need to be paid for separately. Hopefully this feedback is helpful for management to improve communication and perhaps consider pre-arrival emails. I believe renos are currently happening so we were unlucky with our room.

The location of the hotel is without question its biggest advantage. Situated right at the tip, with beautiful views over the water, it is far enough away from the town center and the hustle and bustle of Airlie Beach. Another positive aspect is the staff, who are consistently friendly, helpful and welcoming. Unfortunately, this is where the positives end – especially when considering the price of around AUD 900 (approx. EUR 500) per night, in our case for a two-bedroom penthouse. The hotel is clearly aging and poorly maintained. Several areas feel dirty, neglected and in some places even moldy, which is simply unacceptable at this price level. To make matters worse, the penthouse faces directly onto the pool, meaning constant noise throughout the day from children, families and other guests, as well as pool music until around 9:30 pm. As an additional “complimentary extra,” guests are treated to the sound of leaf blowers from 7:00 am during morning cleaning. One of the biggest disappointments, however, is the breakfast. The included “continental breakfast” is extremely poor: • Only one hot beverage per person is included • Any additional drinks must be paid for • Hot food must be ordered and paid for separately For example, two eggs cost an additional AUD 9, which is hard to believe when paying AUD 900 per night. Important note for future guests: Rooms 301, 302, 303 and 304 should be avoided in particular. Most likely the rooms directly below on the second floor (2xx) are affected as well, as they all face the pool area. Unless you enjoy all-day pool noise, music and constant activity, these rooms will significantly reduce any sense of relaxation. Conclusion: While the location and friendly staff are appreciated, they do not compensate for the very poor value for money. The condition of the hotel, the constant noise and the disappointing breakfast are simply not acceptable for this price range. Unfortunately, this stay deserves only 1 star overall.

MAKE PROMISES AND FULFIL THEM (LACK OF RELIABILITY / HONESTY / SERVICE) We spent two nights at the Coral Sea Resort at the beginning of August 2025. Unfortunately, however, we do not have good memories of our stay in terms of the reliability, honesty, and service of the hotel. The following happened: After we left, we realized that our daughter had forgotten her beloved cuddly toy in the hotel room. After contacting the hotel, we were told that the stuffed animal had been found. We asked for the cuddly toy to be sent to our home address in Germany at our expense. We were then asked to get a shipping label ourselves and send it to the hotel. We had hoped for some assistance from the hotel at this point, as we, being foreign guests, were unfortunately unfamiliar with the Australian postal/parcel services. However, due to the high emotional importance of the cuddly toy for our daughter, we naturally acquired and paid for the parcel label and sent it to the hotel. Ten weeks have now passed and the cuddly toy has still not been sent. In the meantime, we have sent four further requests/reminders to the hotel asking them about the status and to send the cuddly toy. In each of these emails, we were assured that the cuddly toy was still there and would be sent shortly. We have repeatedly put off and reassured our daughter, promising her (as we were assured by the hotel) that she would soon be able to hold her beloved stuffed animal in her arms again. Unfortunately, nothing has happened! We are very disappointed and would have expected a different level of service and, above all, honesty and reliability from a hotel in this price range. We will now try to explain to our daughter that she will not be getting her favorite stuffed animal back. Dear reader or interested guest: Unfortunately, you have to ask yourself how reliable and honest the hotel's promises are.
