Stayed at The Star Grand Hotel in Pyrmont and overall had a very enjoyable experience. The rooms were spacious, modern, quiet, and comfortable, with good bedding and nice bathrooms. Some parts could use a refresh, but everything was clean and well maintained. Great choice if you want a stylish stay close to the city. The location is one of the biggest advantages. Pyrmont is very walkable, and you can easily reach Darling Harbour, Barangaroo, the CBD, and waterfront promenades on foot. Public transport is convenient too, with light rail nearby. Perfect for visitors who like exploring without needing a car.

Perfect for any occasion! A casual meal, dress up meal, play a machine or a table, nightclubbing, entertainment centre, public transport access, darling harbour access and views, a few drinks, relaxing vibe or on the go vibe. Staff are amazing! So friendly and lovely!! The rooms are comfy, the linen is fresh and clean, the bathrooms are always well stocked with good quality items. Coles is across the road for anything else you need. The only things I'd say is check in is 3pm, check out is 11am. Thats not even 24hrs with the room, though that is pretty standard. Definitely recommend! ☆☆☆☆☆

8 March 2026. International Women’s Day. My husband and I took my mother and my mother-in-law to lunch in Manly. After lunch we asked them what they’d like to do for the rest of the afternoon. They both squealed like teenagers: “Let’s go to the Star Casino for a punt!” We hadn’t been there in ages, so we thought why not. Big mistake. The moment we walked in it turned into an absolute circus. Let me be clear — every single one of us is well over 50. Yet the first thing we’re hit with is ID checks like we’re a pack of teenagers trying to sneak into a nightclub. Then comes the next absurdity: you can’t even sit down and play the pokies anymore. No, now you need a casino card. And to get that card apparently you must hand over every detail of your life — your ID, your personal information, probably the name of your firstborn and what they ate for breakfast. The four of us spent 30 minutes each with staff trying to get these stupid cards issued. System errors. Rejections. Start again. More errors. More rejections. Over and over again. An hour of our lives gone — standing there like fools — just trying to be allowed to put $20 into a machine. Eventually we gave up and walked out. And just to add insult to injury? $30 parking for the privilege of wasting our afternoon in their bureaucratic nightmare. So congratulations The Star Sydney. If you were trying to make ordinary Australians feel unwelcome, mission accomplished. Now I completely understand why people avoid the place like the plague. Here’s some advice for everyone else: Skip the Star. Go to your local club or pub instead. You’ll be treated like a human being, you can actually sit down and enjoy yourself, and you won’t need to fill out a life history just to play a pokie. The Star clearly isn’t for everyday Australians anymore. They only seem interested in catering to wealthy high-rollers and foreign VIPs. For the rest of us? Don’t bother.

Great casino. Very large with many machines and tables. I played poker and there was great action on the 2-3 game. They had about 6 tables on a Tuesday night. The chips are bought at the roulette table which is 50 meters away. No problem. Rake is 10% woth 20 AUD limit. High but not too much. Great dealers.

The Star Sydney is one of the most complete entertainment destinations in the city, offering a mix of luxury, nightlife, dining and gaming all in one place. Located in Pyrmont right near Darling Harbour, it’s easy to access and perfect for a full night out or even a weekend stay. The casino floor is spacious, modern and well laid out, with a wide range of table games and machines. Whether you’re experienced or just there for the atmosphere, it’s lively without feeling overwhelming. The energy builds throughout the night, especially on weekends. What really sets The Star apart is the variety of restaurants and bars. There’s everything from casual dining to high-end venues, with excellent food quality across the board. It’s a great spot for dinner before heading into the casino or continuing on for drinks. If you’re staying at the hotel, the rooms are clean, comfortable and well-appointed, with many offering great views of the city skyline or harbour. The overall experience feels polished and convenient, with everything you need in one location. The venue also regularly hosts events, live entertainment and nightlife options, so there’s always something happening. It transitions seamlessly from a relaxed daytime setting to a more vibrant, high-energy atmosphere at night. If you’re looking for things to do in Sydney at night, The Star Sydney is a top choice. It’s ideal for date nights, group outings or anyone wanting a mix of dining, entertainment and nightlife in one place. Highly recommend visiting in the evening to experience the full atmosphere, booking restaurants in advance, and taking time to explore everything the complex has to offer
