Reviews for Hotel Realm

Booked a Realm room for a 2 night weekend away with my partner. We arrived to check in around 4pm and we were greeted by Tom on reception. During check in, Tom had to speak with housekeeping to see if our room was ready. None of the style of room we had booked were quite ready but without hesitation, Tom immediately upgraded us to an Executive Suite!! Talk about getting lucky! When we got to the room, we were blown away by the size, styling and cosiness of the suite. It was very clean and beautifully presented. Both mornings we had the buffet breakfast in the Louis restaurant which was great, only downside - it was a bit chilly as the doors to outside were open. Not a big deal though. The pool, spa and sauna etc were great and on-site carparking was easy with plenty of well appointed parking spaces. From check in to check out, the staff were pleasant, attentive and efficient. Looking forward to staying here again!

I am extremely disappointed with my stay at Hotel Realm, particularly given that it is advertised as a five star property. Unfortunately, the level of service and attention to detail fell well below expectations. One of the main issues we encountered was with the in room washing machine. It was leaking and difficult to operate. A staff member came to open it (after multiple requests), but failed to inform us that once closed, we would not be able to open it again ourselves. As a result, we had no choice but to use the hotel’s laundry service. This, too, was unacceptable, our clothes were returned still wet. At that point, I gave up entirely. It is simply absurd that a hotel of this standard would return laundry in such a condition. The room setup was equally disappointing. We received only one pair of slippers despite booking for two guests, and basic amenities such as shower gel and shampoo were missing. These are fundamental expectations, not extras. Another significant frustration was the difficulty in contacting reception. Rather than answering calls directly, staff would not answer at all but had call back later. This created a disjointed and inconvenient experience, especially when assistance was needed promptly. This stay was particularly important to us as we booked it over New Year’s Eve to celebrate our anniversary. Canberra holds special meaning for us, and we wanted to create another memorable experience together, especially as my husband’s medical condition progresses. Sadly, instead of a special and memorable occasion, our stay was marked by disappointment and frustration. Overall, Hotel Realm did not meet the standards of a five star hotel in either service or quality. I genuinely wish we had chosen to stay elsewhere.

Ate at Louis Restaurant. Went specifically for the burger, which had good reviews. I love a good burger and they definitely know how to make one! The patty was soft and juicy. The grilled cheese, sauce and pickles perfectly balanced it. The bun was soft. The fries were crispy. My mate and I are amateur foodies and we walked away seriously impressed with the whole experience. Already booked in to go back. If you like a good burger this place has it for prices cheaper than most other joints. Highly recommended 👍🏼

We loved our stay at Hotel Realm! Room was clean, with a great layout. Atmosphere was very calming. I was quite surprised to find a washing machine in our room! Room service was great, and fairly quick. Staff were all super friendly. We did have an issue with one of the TVs in the room however maintenance was all over it and replaced the TV same day.

I’ve stayed at Hotel Realm at least a half dozen times over the years and overall it’s the best hotel in Canberra in my opinion. The bar and restaurant are great, the facilities are comprehensive and the service is always excellent. There are two things I think need improving, the rooms are starting to show their age, when appliances or fittings break in the room they are replaced with cheaper options and this just doesn’t give the impression of a five star hotel. That being said it’s good to see they’ve swapped out the bar soap for liquid soap. The second issue is parking, if there’s a function on at the hotel you can forget finding a park, there’s no hotel guest assigned parking and I’m always told they don’t own the car park so are powerless to do anything about it. Even a reminder when checking in that a function is being held during your stay would really be appreciated. Overall it’s still a great hotel and I’d recommend it to friends and family travelling to Canberra.
