Closing weekend 30th year movie celebration was fun. We saw Batman Forever and my kids loved it.

This cinema is great. The parking is good and it is very accessible to all. There are escalators and elevators going up to the cinema. There are big wide open spaces down below in a small mall type courtyard area where you can get a bite to eat before or after you go to the cinema or even if you don’t. The Gold Class service here was great and the cinema was very clean and comfortable. In our experience it was on par with Chadstone or the Melbourne Central Cinema’s. Just on a smaller scale. Which can be perfect if you don’t want all the fuss of going to a bigger place.

It was old and run down the last time I was there, but it gets an extra star for having the classic charm and personality. VPremium is not worth it at all, tables were sticky and so were the chairs and its just a boring waste of space that is no different to the Standard screenings, its just a "diet" Gold Class. The Standard cinema I was in had better seats but the only problem was that the projector was loud and clunky. In terms of being a functioning cinema, Jam Factory was the worse Village Cinema near Melbourne, but it's better than the overpriced Hoyts Melbourne Central because Jam Factory had personality and charm. Now it's gone for some renovations alongside the entire Jam Factory shopping centre.

A post-apocalyptic 90s Hellscape Jam factory was a popular hang out in the 90s but is now an empty shell of cinemas oddly still operating. A weird time capsule trapped in dysfunction and decay. In summary: 1. Automatic tickets machines do not work. 2. Only one staff member tending to snacks and tickets. The poor teen working everything *hand wrote* the tickets! 3. It reeks of mould and water damage. 4. Seats uncomfortable, dirty, made my skin crawl (or was something actually crawling on me?). 5. Cinema was warm and humid, no apparent climate control. 6. Worse of all, the screen was damaged in the centre! It is so distracting it ruined the viewing experience. I'm surprised this place hasn't been condemned. I would not recommend.

No need to go to Village Jam Factory south Yarra to view a scary movie. The cinema precinct ITSELF IS THE SCARY PART. I was there 2.30 pm 11th October 2024. The building was deserted. I was the only patron ( yes one, just me) in cinema 6 and the heating had not been turned on. My fingers were numb. The air smells musty and dusty. I’m sure the in house rodent population is enjoying the spilled popcorn on the carpets. I understand the entire building is ripe for demolition and a rebuild. Village could consider reduced ticketing prices as the movie experience is way way unacceptably awful. Just don’t go. Choose a cinema group who gives a care. Try Palace cinemas.
