Reviews for Melbourne Zoo

Had an awesome day out at Melbourne zoo. Great place for the family! Managed to get round in 5 hours but even then we thought we moved fast. Would definitely recommend a two day visit if you want to read everything and enjoy it. Looking at getting the pass and also doing the camping under the stars! Will be back!

Melbourne Zoo doesn’t just show you animals – it invites you into a world where nature, care, and community meet. The vibe is serene, the animals are healthy and clearly well-loved, and the monkeys alone are worth the entry fee. Whether you’re a solo wanderer, couple on a day out, or dragging the kids around, it’s an experience that sticks with you.

Well maintained zoo. Children up to 15 years entry is free. Senionr citizens have concessions too. Adult 53 dollars. Be prepared to walk. There are resrooms and eateries inside.

A great selection of animals and well-designed exhibits, a lot of attention into giving guests s good chance to see the animals, many of the burrows and such had windows to view the animals even when they’re sleeping. The open lemur enclosure is fantastic, you can see them right up close (but please do still keep your distance). Got a great look at the tiger, though it seemed quite agitated, it was pacing around by two of the windows to its exhibit and growling where people were crowding around, could do with some sort of one way glass perhaps. The signs for animals were also not super informative, and the cycling electronic signs in the reptile house were not a great idea.

We had the best day at the zoo! Visited on a weekday after school holidays so it was not very busy. We really loved the Koala & Lemur experience - would highly recommend it.
