Josie is an absolute star at The York in Lilydale. I come in for lunch every week, and she consistently provides exceptional service with a genuine smile and warm attitude. No matter what kind of day I’m having, Josie always brightens it with her friendly personality and attention to detail. She makes every visit feel welcoming and valued, and it’s clear that she truly cares about her customers. The York is lucky to have someone as professional, kind, and hardworking as Josie on the team. Thank you, Josie, for making my weekly lunches something I always look forward to!

Genuinely terrible experience. Booked a table near the children’s playground so we could supervise them easily, arrived and got told someone had taken our table and got given the furthest table from the playground. Spent $160 on meals for 2 adults and 2 kids, the kids meals came out 30 mins before the mains (despite selecting all as mains NOT entrees). Only one main came out, the waitress apologised for the wait and the meal was Luke warm, at best. After my husband finished that main, it had reached the point of ridiculous and I went to speak to the kitchen. I asked where the last meal was.. they couldn’t find the order receipt anywhere.. finally found it with the completed meal receipts.. I was told it was just being cooked now, but had literally just watched them pull the order out of the completed pile. I said “is it actually being cooked now? Or has it not been started … Because if it hasn’t been started, I just want a refund” … I literally had my kids hanging off me asking to go home. Suffice to say I was given a refund of my meal. Thankfully, no issue with giving a refund but we had gone out so that I didn’t have to cook and instead I sat and watched everyone eat then had to go home and cook myself a meal.

We are regulars to this establishment and have been for 3 years. Today we attended for lunch in the bistro, with friends and it was extremely busy for the 2 staff on duty. The girls were simply run off their feet, taking orders, delivering food and attending the bar. Customers were having to wait 5-10 minutes to be served due to the busy nature of the facility. Erin and Josie did the best they could although customers were grouchy because they had to wait. These changes we have seen regularly lately due to management wanting to cut shifts. Hopefully they can see that these cuts are disgruntling customers and can maybe improve the situation. There has also been a reduction is some foods (no roast for the past couple of days) and some drinks unavailable in the facility. Personally, I would have thought this is the bread and butter of the facility and should be on hand. New facility manager doesn't participate with staff when they appear busy which is a shame for the staff as Tim the previous Manager, could always be seen around the facility, helping out when required.

This venue is our local. We really enjoy it here. Food is good, staff are friendly, service is great. Although, in my opinion, there has been a change of facilities Manager in the last couple of months & the new Manager just doesn't meet the level of service and friendiless of the previous manager. Which seems to have poisoned the staff morale. Previously, I rated the menu 9.5, recently I rated it 6.5, reason being the lack of choice and/or no supplies.
