Went to the York bistro last night Sunday August 2. Waited just under an hour for our meals. It was busy but not packed. My wife and I didn't mind too much but it ended up being a later than planned night for my 2 young children. Luckily the food was pretty yummy otherwise this would be a 1 star review. Come on York, let that kitchen shine! Plus it would be nice to have a few more vegetarian/vegan options. As a vegetarian there's only 2 options. As my local, could get sick of these quickly! Wait staff friendly.

My friends do like the York and I don't mind it. The venue is great however I do think they can do better with there meals. For example, a smashed burger pattie is not a rissole. It's smashed flat and cooked well so flavours come from caramelisation of the fats. I will always head back because the venue is close to friends. The service is ok but why so serious? Some of the best places have friendly and out going staff, it makes the whole experience so much better. Hope this is taken for what it is as I don't what to be overly critical but I need to be honest. Thankyou.

Lovely studio room overlooking the lake.newly renovated ground floor unit. Appreced the 2 free drinks at the bar close to the new bar eatery very welcoming warm with open fire place/gas..Friendly helpful staff ..negatives adjoining door unit could hear every word from next door. Will come back.

Went back after afew months off we both had the worst calamari meal ever. Greasy dish the seniors menue has changed. Most choices were chicken. I asked could I change salad and chips to veggies.. yes but I need to pay extra. That's a new rule. New menue is horrible to read also. Will give this place a Huge Miss.

Dining here was a McDonalds level experience. We ordered entree and mains and both arrived about 1 minute apart. Rather than note there was a problem the staff member just tried to squeeze the plates onto the table. After an obvious discussion both meals were taken away. Rather than prepare new meals, it turns out both were just taken back and kept warm. 15 minutes later the same meals returned. You can probably imagine what avocado looks like on top of chicken after 15 minutes under a warmer. The other meal, chicken schnitzel was served as parmigiana. Again you can probably imagine what that looked like after 15 minutes under a warmer. That meal was again taken away and another prepared while I ate alone. This is basic food service and basic staff awareness gone very wrong. To top it off a lemon, lime and bitters drink was served with soda instead of lemonade. The staff member had no explanation as to why that was the case. Maybe the worst part of this experience is being ignored when I provided all of this information directly over a week ago. Sometimes things go wrong, but many things should not go wrong and the "We don't care" attitude should turn customers away from dining here.
