Reviews for The Mint Melbourne

Had a great time at The Mint! Everything we ordered was delicious and exceeded expectations. The karaage fried chicken was flavorful and juicy — perfectly paired with the yuzu mayo, which added a refreshing citrus kick. The braised lamb shank was incredibly tender and well-seasoned. The meat literally fell apart with just a fork. Loved the sides too — the stir fried kale and mash potato were the perfect match and full of flavor. The beef burger was also a standout. The crispy onion rings inside added great texture, and the patty itself was super tasty and juicy. Highly recommend this place !

I went here to meet a friend for dinner here last night and it was great, the atmosphere has that lovely classy feel indoors and a lovely patio terrace courtyard vibe outdoors which is great for catch ups and enjoying the great weather. Located on the corner of William and Latrobe Sts there is limited street parking on the side street or parking on Latrobe Street, there is also a tram stop right out the front as well. The staff are friendly and efficient, the prices are general pricing and is hearty pub style meals ( lamb shanks, fish of the day, parmas ect) and the food is good and well priced. I would definitely recommend and return is great for catch ups with friends for meals and drinks, date nights, solo dining and is well located.

Went out with a friend who hadn’t been to Melbourne before. We all wanted to try experience something new and decided to check out “The Mint” suffice to say I was incredibly disappointed and embarrassed. First came the drinks. My roommate ordered a cosmopolitan “nothing to write home about” was her review. My friend ordered a pint which was fine and I had an espresso martini which tasted burnt and was undrinkable. Then came the food. Absolutely disgusting. My roommate had the house made gnocchi if you could call it that, more so looked like orange slime, she tried asking for some salt and was begrudgingly handed some by a rude waitress. The salt barely made a difference. My friend had the chicken Parma and the cheese was disgusting. And I had ordered the steak special which considering how low my expectations were at the point was at least edible. Definitely won’t be recommending this place again.

Visited on Wednesday for their steak special. 250g porterhouse w/ fries for 25$ was a really good value. The steak was nicely seasoned and cooked. Ordering was easy. Nice place.

A great venue to dine at before or after visiting the spectacular Hellenic Museum housed in the former Mint. The food is good, bit on the pricier end, but yummy nonetheless. A good sized chicken parmigiana and a decent polenta stack. What ruins it for me is the self service concept. Reminds me of old poorer quality pubs or fast food joints. When it is busy it can mean your food gets cold whilst you queue up waiting to renew your drinks. At this price and style of setting, table service would be much better.
