Stayed 2 nights here. Reception was very welcoming and helpful. Rooms were nice and cosy with stylish bathrooms. It also got a bar with a restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Food was great but the drinks not so much to my liking. Nice seating area out in the garden or inside area opening to garden. Will definitely stay here next time too!
This is a lovely colonial-style hotel. Our room was well-appointed and tastefully decorated. The walls are thin, and we could hear people coming and going, but nothing too severe. The staff were okay. We used the bar in the evenings, and although the sign said the kitchen closes at 9 pm, we were told at 8:40 pm that the kitchen was closed. The gym wasn't cleaned for the two days we were there with no towels in the basket. The hotel is in a good location, with easy walks to Manuka and Kingston.
During my stay at this historic gem in Canberra, the echoes of its rich past resonated throughout. From the intricate hand-carved mantel to the vintage photographs adorning the walls, the hotel seamlessly weaves together history and modernity. The Art Deco allure blends effortlessly with contemporary comforts, all complemented by impeccable service. It's a place to work, unwind in bespoke furniture, pamper yourself, and immerse in the essence of the nation's capital. Waking up to birdsong and picturesque views of the manicured garden or staying in a heritage room dating back to when Parliament House was just a paddock adds a unique charm.
This iconic heritage hotel employs friendly, helpful and professional staff who made us feel welcome and comfortable right away. The location is wonderfully quiet outside of business hours and Parliamentary sitting days. Parking our car on site was easy. The room was small but completely adequate with some heritage features, nice, very clean with new furnishings, quality linen and modern bathroom. The best features of this beautiful old hotel are the heritage features that give this building so much character, the lounge, courtyard gardens, and restaurant/bar area with many different seating areas. I liked the glass enclosed veranda for having our breakfast as it had a view of the beautiful gardens. This hotel has excellent menu options. All our meals were well presented and prepared. A perfect place for a rest and as a base to see the best Canberra has to offer.
The Kurrajong Hotel is a perfect blend of traditional style with a modern touch. The historical building has a lot of history surrounding it, mostly involving former prime minister Ben Chifley. Walking through the old corridors, you are greeted with portraits of political figures, historic information, and well-preserved architecture. The rooms stay true to the traditional style with its choice of colours, furnishings, and overall feel. The bathrooms are all modern and roomy. Only negatives when it comes to the Kurrajong is the small amount of available parking.
