We just stayed there for the second time while attending the Sydney cricket test. It's a lovely art deco building that has kept a lot of its charm through renovations over the years. The location is ideal - right next to Chinatown, close to Central station, and across the road from the light rail. Rooms are clean and quiet if on the small side. (Tip: if you find yourself in one of the really small rooms don't hesitate to ask to be moved, they are very obliging.) Continental and hot breakfasts are available at modest prices. Staff were most helpful. And the cost is very reasonable, you could easily pay 50% or more elsewhere. It's now become our go to place when staying in Sydney.
This is the perfect place to stay in Sydney. It is a very short distance to Central Station. The light rail stop is across the street - couldn't be more convenient! The hotel is an older establishment with clean rooms and great service by staff. I highly recommend.
A good reasonably priced hotel for Sydney. Simple but at the price expected. Nice clean comfortable room. Excellent value breakfast. Good happy hour deals in the pub. Nice looking pub food. In a very good location for catching public transportation. Tram across the street to either circular quay or Randwick. Central station for all trains, so easy to get to airport from here. China town location. Would stay again.
The hotel is in a great location, and the customer service was commendable. The staff were friendly and helpful. However, the room was just average, and the mattress was a major letdown. Every time my partner turned over, it felt like being on a trampoline, which made it difficult to get a good night's sleep. The breakfast was disappointing, especially for a 4-star hotel. The options were very limited which felt more like a 2-star experience. It might be better to explore nearby restaurants for a more satisfying breakfast.
This hotel sits in the CBD of Sydney, and it's got a good history. I was looking at the old photos on the walls inside and was well surprised how far this hotel has come from its humble bigginings . Staff are very friendly, the room we stayed in on the second floor was very entertaining and the right size for a couple. All the amenities are on hands-on, so it's easy to navigate around the city. They are lots of maps and booklets in the hotel for you to pick up for free. Overall it's a very nice hotel to stay in the heart of Chinatown and I highly recommend it.
