•We are a community-focused restaurant and bar that strives to provide bold and heart-felt food and drinks at affordable prices. Focusing on using smaller producers and sourcing local food wherever possible, we offer an ever-changing menu designed around share plates and a standout drinks list to match. This 15 years young restaurant is truly a cult classic. The kitchen and bar take centre stage in the narrow terrace, providing a vibrant beating heart to the venue. The space is broken up into several areas; a front bar area, where you can sit and watch the fun on King Street, the main dining room with its red tables and low hanging lights leads you through to a rear deck that’s drenched in sun during the afternoon. There is also a private dining room that can accommodate groups of up to 14 people. All areas are available for private events and parties. Head chef and owner Claire Van Vuuren’s food is bright, creative, eccentric and packed with flavour. Claire and her team are passionate about sustainable and naturally made wines that pair perfectly with her food. The beer list is extensive, going from local classics to international cult favourites. There is also a very tasty list of house made cocktails.




We had an amazing night at Bloodwood. From the moment we walked in, every staff member greeted us and the whole place had such a warm, welcoming feel. The food was excellent, but what really made the night was Zoe. She was engaging, thoughtful, and completely on point — the kind of service that makes you feel genuinely cared for. She turned a lovely dinner into a truly memorable celebration. Zoe made the night, and Bloodwood shines because of people like her.
I was part of a large group dining at Bloodwood last night. The service was absolutely amazing. Zoe in particular was carful getting to know our names and our dietary needs. The food was so delicious. Thank you very much to the Bloodwood team.
Absolutely delicious food in a really cute setting. Staff are lovely, drinks are also solid. We had the school night deal - the lamb was a particular stand-out.
GENUINELY one of the best restaurant experiences I’ve had in a long time. came in with my girlfriend to get dinner before a concert and were greeted by friendly staff. we got the chargrilled lamb rump and swordfish. very nice dishes, totally wasnt expecting it to be honest. lowkey would go again :)
26th April 2025 - With a very unassuming frontage to the restaurant this establishment has an unexpected ongoing spacious dining area as you enter further into the restaurant. A fantastic variant menu with flavours to appease all appetites. I personally loved the chorizo and octopus dish and the crispy whitebait. Such a great ambience. The service was very attentive and I know this may be odd to say but a little too attentive. With no specific wait staff assigned to designated areas we were hassled just a little too much during our dining and even at one stage a bottle of beer was emptied into the wrong glass despite the good intentions. However, the food and location is fantastic - may need to designate staff to their areas.
