With a new look and new menu, this is Pool Club but not as you know it. Perched atop ivy complex in the middle of Sydney’s CBD, it’s a little slice of heaven inspired by the Italian coastline.
The ‘after party’ for the World Age Group Marathon Championships was held here. It seems a good venue for a big event like this. The finger food was a little light on and the music incredibly loud but I’m sure some people loved it. I can’t really comment on what a small group experience would be. It’s a little tucked away in a tiny lane and many of us had difficulty finding it. May return for a different experience in the future.
First club I went to while visiting Australia. Went on a Thursday night, great vibes! 10/10. Even came back a week later because we had such a fun time. People there were there to dance and have a good time. No weirdos or creepy men in sight! The only strange thing was how intense security was. There were three rows of security to get through and I had to provide my ID and passport each time. Props to them for prioritizing security/safety!
Whilst we did have a great evening here to see Paul Van Dyk I do concur the bouncers are overzealous. My partner had not had much to drink and was pulled aside as soon as he walked out the male toilets. He was completely confused why and was then asked how much he had to drink and was allowed back in. I would have been most upset if he had been kicked out given I would have been left in the club on my own and we'd both paid $250 each for back stage passes. We have never experienced this at any other venue we have been to or ever been kicked out of anywhere. Quite an upsetting experience. I also think there should be free water stations readily available for patrons as is with comparable venues in the city. I wanted to leave this post as I see many saying bouncers are racist. I don't believe they are racist at all just overzealous and towards the males so perhaps sexist rather than racist a better description.
I rate this 3 stars for food because the kumquats at the pool club… are they edible? Are they poison? Or are they genuinely kumquats available for luxurious consumption as you lay by the pool? Upon feeling the texture and consistency was great. It was a ripe and fragrant kumquat. I did not eat for fear the eshays poisoned it and I’d end up floating in circular quay.
It was a terrible memory for us as we paid for the entrance after getting insulted by a women working there. A guy working as vigil told us and we can’t enter after paying as my friend was supposedly “too drunk” without understanding English. Terrible experience in this club with no understanding and caring of clients, it’s unbelievable!!
