The Charlie (formerly The Charleston) is nestled in the heart of Glebe and inspired by our travels through the southern states of the US. It is an ode to the beautiful colours and flavours of South Carolina. The Charlie is a second Inner-west venue from the team behind The Cottage Bar & Kitchen in Balmain. Enlisting the help of an award-winning interior designer, Matt Woods, the dramatic redesign reflects modern Southern living and is reminiscent of Charleston’s historic waterfront, pastel-coloured homes. The Charlie is by day a stunning garden bar and by night a candle-lit party under the stars, expect chilled-out vibes, wild nights and great company at this stunning Sydney dining destination. A large sky door cascades natural light throughout the intimate and laid-back venue, setting the scene for casual dining while the bar area spills onto the outdoor front terrace for alfresco drinking and dining. Excellent food — Steak Frites was done to perfection. We tried several places and this was done as what we asked for, medium rare, thanks! Corns grilled with the right amount of char, yum. And the tacos were what we ought to have last week at another Mexican place. Great music — love Bohemian Rhapsody! Must return for the steak again. Thanks, Aiden!

We had a relaxed Sunday evening at Charlie’s - no rush, just good vibes. The food was excellent and the lady behind the bar (who served us too) really stood out with her friendly service. The salted honey butter along with the Focaccia is something you need to try. Also the Tiramisu

Really lovely old building that is very loved. I really enjoyed the happiness of the staff working here it created a wonderful vibe as they were singing along to the music. We were greeted warmly and care was taken with dietary requirements. We really enjoyed our evening and I recommend this location

I don't usually leave reviews but there was a gentleman at the restaurant bar, who, ever so kindly, ensured that I received my requested pineapple candy before leaving the restaurant. I was delighted. And I was even more pleased that more than one lolly was shared! The sugary treat, kindness and Mortal Kombat reference topped my pleasant evening. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at The Charlie's. The staff always have a great memory of the order my friends and I place.. and it's impressive because the waitering staff don't write our long orders on a piece of paper or tablet.. Additionally, the food was served in a timely manner. Staff are polite, attentive to detail and perceptive. It was a new menu for my pallete today and I must say, whenever I revisit The Charlie, I am always waiting for the next time I return! Thank you for the delicious experience and great vibes. I'll be back!

First time at Charlie's which is more of wine/beer bar with great small plates! Aidan the owner is very friendly and we enjoyed chatting to him. Highly recommended if you are in the area.
