Really lovely old building that is very loved. I really enjoyed the happiness of the staff working here it created a wonderful vibe as they were singing along to the music. We were greeted warmly and care was taken with dietary requirements. We really enjoyed our evening and I recommend this location
We had a relaxed Sunday evening at Charlie’s - no rush, just good vibes. The food was excellent and the lady behind the bar (who served us too) really stood out with her friendly service. The salted honey butter along with the Focaccia is something you need to try. Also the Tiramisu
Amazing food, but too much sauce that over power the salmon. Service was friendly and good. Lovely little restaurant with plants on the ceiling
Overall we were underwhelmed with food and drink but agreed the atmosphere was nice and service fine. We got focaccia, tacos, autumn salad, chipotle pasta (with burrata), the mamacita cocktail and the cool as a cucumber cocktail. Firstly the focaccia was ok, but sliced like tip top white loaf which was strange. The tacos were yum but pretty small for $24. The autumn salad was overly saucy and we didn’t enjoy that. The pasta was incredibly saucy and expensive ($30 + $8 with burrata)for a non-meat dish and we didn’t really rate the taste. As for drinks the mamacita was not enjoyable, ridiculously spicy but also just a clash of flavours. The cool as a cucumber was the opposite, very bland mostly tasting of soda. I do question if the drinks had two standard measures in them. Overall I would say this place has potential if they refine the menu a bit. We do not vibe the multiple cuisines format, it really clashes. But I can see big groups with differing tastes and just needing vibes maybe liking it here.
I had a great experience at The Charlie in Glebe – the vibe was relaxed and fun, with a cool garden-bar setup that really added to the atmosphere. The food was delicious, especially the Korean fried chicken, and the cocktails were super creative and tasty. I went on a jazz night, which made the whole evening even better. The oysters were fresh, the drinks were spot on, and the staff were friendly and attentive. I’d definitely come back – it’s one of my new favourite spots in Sydney.
